While strolling in a small alley in Huifang, I unexpectedly discovered a small shop with a long queue of people - Ma Jiguang Rose Rice Cake. I took a closer look out of curiosity and realized that what was sold here was the local famous handmade mochi. I passed by again that night and the shop was still open, so I couldn’t help but buy a few to try! The price of glutinous rice cakes is affordable, four pieces cost only 28 yuan. Each piece is quite plump, with a thin and tender outer skin and solid filling. You can feel its heavy weight just by holding it in your hand. Unfortunately, I was too full after dinner that day and couldn’t enjoy it right away, so I had to put it in the refrigerator overnight. It still tastes good the next day, but the crust lacks the chewy texture of freshly made ones.
