Dongguan Grand Mosque

I have been to several mosques. Most of the mosques have domes and minarets, which are very religious. The Dongguan Mosque in Xining has a special architectural style and looks more like a Han-style building. Dongguan Temple was first built during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty in the Ming Dynasty. After hundreds of years, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times and finally took shape here. There are several voluntary lectures given by tour guides wearing white hats every day. I went there just in time and listened to the whole lecture and learned about the history of the Great Mosque. Walking up the steps in front of the hall, I saw many Muslims kneeling facing the wall, reciting something silently, then bowing, then reciting again, and then bowing again. I have seen Tibetans with their families crawling and kneeling all the way to Lhasa on National Highway 318; I have seen believers prostrating themselves in front of the Jokhang Temple; I have seen monks and lamas chanting scriptures with almost no pauses in the temples, and Muslims kneeling and kowtowing in the mosques. These scenes make people deeply feel their inner piety. I don’t understand religion but I respect it and am often moved by it. Xining Dongguan Mosque is built in a prosperous and lively area. There are storefronts along the street of the mosque and a popular market nearby. The beef and mutton are freshly cut, skewered and roasted, with excellent texture and taste. The fruits are piled up like small hills and the prices are very affordable. The dried meat is processed and roasted on site and can be tasted. Express delivery service is also provided. The yogurt is also handmade and very delicious. The Dongguan Grand Mosque is naturally integrated into the local life. Its cold and sacred atmosphere is filled with the flavor of everyday life. It is very special and unforgettable.
