[Kitakyushu Shrine] A quiet shrine surrounded by bamboo groves and cedars

Sugimori Shrine 4-2-1 Kamikazuki, Yahata Nishi-ku, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka 093-617-0227 Parking available for visitors The shrine grounds appear when you walk up the bamboo forest and cedar path that continues for about 200 meters from the parking lot. At the shrine, there are flags with bird patterns and offering boxes. The shrine is located near Kurokawa, one of the most famous firefly viewing spots in Kitakyushu, where as many as 5,000 fireflies fly around from late May to early June. Yamato Takeru no Mikoto is enshrined here. The name of the area is Kazuki, and it is said that when Yamato Takeru visited this area, he said, "What a delight, the scent of flowers, and the pure moon.
