Timanfaya National Park - Spain

Timanfaya (Parque nacional de Timanfaya) is a volcanic park located in the western part of Lanzarote (Canary Islands). Tourists are drawn to this park by the surreal 'Martian' landscapes created by an 18th-century volcanic eruption. The park has very little vegetation, with only a few low-growing bushes. A 14 km long sightseeing bus route runs through Timanfaya. The park's iconic landmark is the El Diablo restaurant, built over the mouth of a dormant volcano. Visitors can enjoy dishes cooked using the heat from a volcanic 'oven'. Camel excursions are also available in Timanfaya.
