It is said to have been built in 1357 by Shiba Kaneyori (the first head of the Mogami clan). The castle was then renovated by Mogami Yoshimitsu, the 11th head of the Mogami clan. ◼︎Yonezawa Castle Ruins This is a flatland castle located in Yonezawa City. This is the castle where Date Masamune was born, and it was the residence of the Date clan for about 200 years until it was confiscated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
