Yichang Nanjinguan Grand Canyon: A Geological Journey Through 500 Million Years

Overview Location: Located in the middle and upper reaches of the Xiaolaoxi River Basin on the north bank of the Xiling Gorge in Yiling District, Yichang City, Hubei Province, at the junction of Xiaoxita Subdistrict, Letianxi, and Huanghua Towns, about 20 km from Yichang City and the Three Gorges Dam. Scenic Area: The total area is 92 square kilometers, the canyon is 18 km long and 3–50 meters wide, and the cliffs on both sides are 100–250 meters high. Natural Scenery Canyon Scenery: The three sections of the canyon, Hongyan Gorge, Feitian Gorge, and Lamei Gorge, have different styles. Hongyan Gorge is steep, Feitian Gorge is deep, and Lamei Gorge is beautiful. Waterfall Scenery: The Chantan Waterfall has a perfect posture; the Erdieshui Waterfall has a pool under the waterfall, and a waterfall under the pool, with a sound like a bell; the Hongyan Tears Waterfall is like a confidant playing the piano and singing at a high place; the Feitian Waterfall is majestic and magnificent, known as the "Treasure of the Gorge." Long Pool is located deep in Feitian Gorge, with green water and a water surface about 100 meters wide, making it the widest and deepest pool in Nanjinguan Grand Canyon. Peculiar Peaks and Rocks: The typical karst landform has formed various cliffs and peculiar peaks and rocks, such as "Great Roc Spreading Its Wings," "Millennium Divine Tortoise," and "Fortune Beast Golden Toad," which are amazing.
