Overview - Location: Located within Wufeng Town, Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang City, Hubei Province, in the heart of the Wuling Mountains. It is a valley wetland connecting Hubei Houhe National Nature Reserve and Hunan Hupingshan National Nature Reserve. - Area and wetland ratio: The planned area is 501.9 hectares, of which the wetland area is 300.12 hectares, with a wetland ratio of 59.80%. - Climate characteristics: It has a subtropical monsoon climate with sufficient sunlight and rainfall. The average annual rainfall is 1765mm. The highest altitude is 2320.3 meters, and the lowest altitude is 393.3 meters, showing a three-dimensional mountain climate. Natural Landscape - River canyon: Baixi River originates from the natural bridge in Houhe National Nature Reserve. The river flows for more than 30 kilometers in Wufeng, with a drainage area of more than 160 square kilometers. The river valley is characterized by steep peaks, deep canyons, winding rivers, and numerous beaches. - Forest vegetation: The park is interspersed with shrubs and trees, forming a dense forest. There are 814 species of vascular plants, belonging to 146 families and 470 genera. The excellent vegetation coverage makes it a natural oxygen bar. Biological Resources - Plant resources: There are 11 national key protected wild plants, including one national first-class protected wild plant, Taxus mairei, and 10 national second-class protected wild plants. - Animal resources: It is home to many rare animals, including 13 species of fish in 3 orders, 5 families, and 12 genera; 26 species of amphibians in 2 orders and 9 families; 37 species of reptiles in 2 orders and 8 families; 77 species of birds in 13 orders and 26 families; and 38 species of mammals in 8 orders and 19 families, including 25 national second-class protected animal species. Cultural Landscape and Characteristics - Characteristic dwellings: Stilt houses and wooden houses are hidden among the willow trees on both sides of the river, complementing the natural landscape with small paths and clear streams. - Folk culture: This is a settlement of the Tujia ethnic group, with a rich Tujia cultural heritage. The unique wetland cultural landscape, western Hubei agricultural civilization, and Tujia folk customs make visitors linger.
