Self-driving to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Three Gorges

Speaking of which, I went to Yichang during the May Day holiday and arranged a trip to the Three Gorges Dam, the Gezhouba Dam, and the Three Gorges. Before going, I researched some information about the Three Gorges. On the cruise in Xiling Gorge, I was already thinking about when I could fully explore the entire Three Gorges. During summer vacation, I happened to take my child to Chongqing to participate in the national drone competition. After some research and planning, once the competition ended, the Three Gorges tour began (*^^*) The Three Gorges are divided into three sections: Qutang Gorge (Fengjie County, Chongqing), Wu Gorge (Wushan County), and Xiling Gorge. To fully tour the Three Gorges, the most common way is by cruise ship 🛳️. You can look it up for details, but this time we chose to rent a car and drive ourselves~ About the route: Chongqing — 🚅 Fengjie, pick up the car — Three Gorges Summit (Qutang Gorge section) — Wushan County — Little Red Boat tour of Wu Gorge (Wu Gorge section) — Zigui — Muyudao Park — Immigration Museum — G348 (Xiling Gorge section) — Yichang, return the car — ✈️ Shanghai We also wanted to stop in Badong for a day, but due to limited time, we gave it up and left it as a wish. About the 🚗: Since it involves returning the car at a different location, I checked and found that the pick-up points along this route are Chongqing, Fengjie, and Zigui. If you only want to drive along G348, picking up the car in Zigui is also 👌🏻. About the scenery 🏞️: The magnificent rivers and mountains of our country never disappoint. I’m very glad to have seen the emerald green Yangtze River water even during the flood season. This trip allowed me to appreciate the beauty of the Three Gorges from various perspectives: the grandeur of the Three Gorges Summit from a high aerial view, the elegance of Wu Gorge from the Little Red Boat, the breathtaking panoramic view of the Three Gorges Dam from Muyudao Park, and the cultural beauty combined with geological knowledge along G348. In one word, worth it! The only regret is that summer vacation was really too hot. A few small tips: 1. When leaving the Three Gorges Summit Scenic Area to go to Wushan, you can pass by Wushan Airport. I also saw some people camping and picnicking nearby; it’s truly a great scenic spot for summer cooling. 2. From Wushan Airport down to Wushan County, if you drive along the river, be careful of falling rocks. Possibly due to heavy rain in the past few days, we saw quite a few on the road, and with continuous downhill curves, my feet went numb. 3. Remember to get a pass when passing through the dam area.
