The former Yilan Shrine is now the Martyrs' Shrine

Location: No. 1, Lane 10, Lane 125, Fuxing Road, Yuanshan Township, Yilan County Introduction: The enthronement ceremony was held on June 21, 1906. It is the earliest shrine in Yilan. At that time, the land of Yilan Shrine was government-owned and used free of charge by the government as the shrine land. Later, due to a storm that caused the worship hall of Yilan Shrine to collapse, the plan was to rebuild the Yilan Shrine. The plan to renovate and relocate the Yilan Shrine was approved on December 27, 1917. The site was chosen to be Yuanshan outside Yuanshan Villa. The relocation project started on October 17, 1918 with a project budget of 45,000 yuan. The inauguration ceremony was held on October 17, 1919. The new Yilan Shrine is located on a hill 30 meters above sea level. On the top of the hill is the Yilan Water Purification Pool built in 1931. To the east, the shrine overlooks the Yilan city streets and the Pacific Ocean, and is surrounded by the Yilan River in the back. On April 18, 1927, Yilan Shrine was upgraded to a county shrine. After World War II, the original shrine building was demolished and built into the Yilan County Martyrs' Shrine.
