Fuchang Pavilion, a place that houses dozens of deities and is extremely low-profile

After driving on two expressways and a national road, I arrived at Hancheng Town. Before even turning into the village, I could see the towering structure of Fuchang Pavilion in the distance. Accustomed to seeing many buildings spread out on a flat plane, this vertically stacked structure was truly a sight to behold for the first time, and it was spectacular! This Taoist temple named Fuchang Pavilion was recorded in the old county annals as having been the site of the Fuchang Palace during the Sui Dynasty, probably used as a royal holiday villa. Subsequently, with the county being demoted to a township and continuous wars, the building suffered a lot of damage. It wasn't until the Ming and Qing dynasties that it was rebuilt, and it has undergone several renovations in modern times to look as it does today. The temple consists of three major levels from bottom to top, with dozens of deities enshrined on each platform, including the Jade Emperor, Medicine King, Western Buddha, Laozi, Lvzu, Hua Tuo, Lu Ban, City God, Old Mother, Earth God, God of Wealth, and many others. To reach the highest hall, one needs to climb more than 120 steps, although there is a gentler slope on the right side that also leads to the top platform. However, it is said that those who come here to burn incense only take the stairs at the front. 📖 Fuchang Pavilion 📍 Fuchang Village, Hancheng Town, Yiyang County, Luoyang City, Henan Province 🚗 It is recommended to drive there; I drove from Xin'an County, about 50 minutes. 🅿️ There is an open space in front of Fuchang Pavilion for parking, free of charge. 💰 Free admission
