Hongshi Gorge got its name in 1472 when the Ming Dynasty's Yansui Governor dug canals through the red mountains to prevent water bandits from robbing the Mongolian and Han civilians. Over the centuries, numerous scholars, poets, and military generals have come to Hongshi Gorge to inscribe their inscriptions, expressing their heroic aspirations while stationed at the frontier. More than 160 inscriptions from various dynasties have been preserved to this day, collectively known as the 'Monument Forest on the Frontier'. Address: Beiyue Temple Village, Yuyang Town, Yuyang District, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province Ticket: There was a period when it was free, but now the ticket price has likely been restored to 30 yuan. Transportation: Taking a taxi from the airport costs just over 30 yuan. Director Wong Kar-wai once brought a group of actors here for filming, choosing this location as a shooting site.
