Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon: A Geological Marvel Comparable to the Grand Canyon

Rated by 'Chinese National Geography' as comparable to the Grand Canyon in Colorado, USA, Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon is a geological scenic area that combines Danxia landforms, Yardang landforms, and stunning canyon landscapes. It is one of the most beautiful geological attractions in Zhangye. The canyon's elevation ranges from 1,500 to 2,550 meters. Its geological structure belongs to red-layer landforms, formed by sedimentation during the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic era to the Tertiary period of the Cenozoic era, dating back 180 to 240 million years. The scenic area is located 60 kilometers northeast of Zhangye City in Gansu Province. How to get there: Take a bus, hire a car, carpool, or join a tour group from Zhangye City. The scenic area offers two types of tours: 1⃣️ Regular Tour (includes sightseeing bus): 130 RMB 2⃣️ In-depth Tour (includes special viewing platforms, off-road vehicles, camel carts, and camel rides): 328 RMB Recommended routes for the Regular Tour: Route 1 and Route 3 Route 1 includes attractions such as One-Line Sky, Cloud Ladder, Lingzhi Valley, and Vertical Spiral Staircase. It is highly engaging but requires walking. In summer, be prepared for sun protection and heat prevention, and bring plenty of supplies. It is suitable for elderly and children, but physical stamina should be considered.
