Damei Ancient Village in Longhai, Zhangzhou

Damei Ancient Village is located on the bank of the Nanxi River of the Jiulong River, two kilometers from the Zhangzhou Port exit of the Shenhai Expressway, surrounded by Jilong Mountain, Daomao Mountain, and E Mountain. The ancient village is surrounded by water on all sides, with ancient banyan trees everywhere. Damei Ancient Village is famous for being the largest and most well-preserved ancient architectural complex and unique water town landscape in Longhai District of Zhangzhou City, and is known as the 'No.1 Village in Southern Fujian'. The ancient village has 276 red-brick ancient houses, adopting the Minnan courtyard architectural style. Despite hundreds of years, they still stand firm, becoming a wonder of ancient Chinese residential buildings. The architectural pattern of the ancient village remains intact, forming a unique landscape of 'green water surrounding the village, jade belt encircling the community', and is known as the 'Zhouzhuang of Southern Fujian'.
