Last July, I took my kid to Zhongwei and stayed at the Desert Stars Hotel - my child had so much fun they refused to leave! After the long journey, staying here was incredibly comfortable - instant recharge!👍 D2⃣ Yinchuan - Shuidonggou - Huaiyuan Night Market Shuidonggou is huge! The fun part is riding all the different vehicles: camels🐫, bamboo rafts, mule carts, electric carts... ✨ Evening at Huaiyuan Night Market for food! So many delicious and cheap options - foodie heaven! ✔ Must-tries: Spicy skewers (¥1 each), lamb skewers (¥2.5), potato cakes (¥4), beef pies (¥4.5), meat-egg burgers (¥6) (These prices made me emotional!) D3⃣ Western Xia Imperial Tombs - Manpu Town Morning: Don't wander aimlessly at the tombs. Follow this order: Western Xia Museum → "Western Xia Romance" show → Tomb ruins area Afternoon: Manpu Town for performances + snacks. Continuous shows including acrobatics🤹, singing and dancing - kids loved it! (Scan QR codes for showtimes! Best to enter after 5pm for more exciting evening performances!) D4⃣ Wuzhong Hui Village cultural experience - Desert Stars Hotel Morning: Took kids to Wuzhong's Hui Village for intangible cultural heritage activities - made eight-treasure tea and sanzi snacks! Lunch: Ate at Guoqiang Hand-Grabbed Mutton! The lamb was incredibly tender with milky flavor, zero gaminess - absolutely heavenly🤩! Couldn't resist taking 500g to go! Afternoon: Finally checked into our dream Desert Stars Hotel🏨! Kids enjoyed indoor activities: sunspot viewing, woodblock printing, bracelet making. Evening sand play - pure joy! Night: Stargazing in the valley with instructors using laser pointers to identify constellations🌟. Learned practical tips like navigating by stars and smartphone astrophotography - fascinating for all ages! D5⃣ Shapotou - Yellow River Homestay Collection ✨ Shapotou has two areas: ✅ Yellow River Zone: Sheepskin rafts, sand sliding, river zipline (thrilling!) ✅ Desert Zone: Camel rides🐫, dune buggies, sand surfing🏎 (adrenaline rush!) Afternoon: Moved to Yellow River Homestay Collection. This private area was wonderfully quiet. Enjoyed coffee☕ in the courtyard, swinging, and taking kids to nearby Spring-Summer Ranch to feed lambs🐑, bunnies🐰, and see ostriches. D6⃣ Ming Great Wall - Return trip We originally planned to go last June, but the hotel was fully booked! Luckily, friends recommended a family tour package that included the Stars Hotel - we miraculously got July dates! So summer travelers: book at least two months early! For families, I highly recommend reliable tour packages - they handle hotels, private transport, and tickets for complete peace of mind💯
