Zhuhai Hengqin Angsana Hotel: A Hidden Resort in the Wilderness—Should You Open This Blind Box?

Zhuhai Hengqin Angsana Hotel is a high-end resort brand under the Banyan Tree Group, marking its presence on Hengqin Island. It is the group's 25th hotel in Greater China and the second Angsana property in Zhuhai. Taking advantage of the Dragon Boat Festival, we decided to visit Chimelong with the kids and chose this hotel for our stay. However, its location is quite remote! The surrounding area is still under heavy construction, with barren landscapes and hardly any decent restaurants nearby. If you're not driving, I wouldn't recommend coming here due to inconvenient transportation. For those with cars, you can drive about 10 kilometers to find food. Upon arrival, the hotel lobby is adjacent to the restaurant. This building houses all leisure facilities, including the pool, gym, spa, and dining areas, while the guest rooms are located elsewhere. I booked a twin room in Building 5, which required a shuttle ride to reach. The room was spacious, but the beds were only 1.2 meters wide—a surprising choice for a newly opened hotel. The last-minute booking cost 1,742 RMB for two nights, including breakfast for two. My daughter, who is under 1.3 meters tall, was initially charged 68 RMB for breakfast during check-in. However, upon learning we were staying for two nights, the staff kindly waived her breakfast fee. The breakfast was decent but lacked variety compared to other five-star hotels. We spent two days at the hotel, mostly enjoying card games with friends. Aside from meals, we didn't explore much or wander around the hotel. Overall, this place is not ideal for those who enjoy lively environments. But if you're looking for a quiet retreat to relax without leaving the premises, it could be a good choice. The hotel offers a buffet dinner, which seems reasonably priced and includes lobster—a highlight worth trying.
