#2月好去地方2025 In order to visit Fox Glacier, I stayed in a motel at the foot of the mountain for one night and had a good meal at Cook Saddle Cafe & Saloon opposite. This is an American log cabin-style restaurant that seems to be family-run. It mainly serves hearty BBQ Mexican-American cuisine. It has a fireplace and a bar. The atmosphere is super chill, and you can sit outdoors to enjoy the view. It seems that when you come to New Zealand, you have to eat big pieces of meat to be satisfied, so I ordered pork ribs and steak. I don’t know if it is a local specialty, but both steaks were topped with a lot of lettuce. If I had known, I would not have ordered salad separately, as the amount of vegetables was sufficient. The seasoning is very American, the ribs and steaks are delicious, but the best thing is the atmosphere of the restaurant. Nice, scenic walk! Very easy terrain. A little wet on the day that we went. It took us 1.5 hr for a brisk walk on the entire loop. A stroll would probably take ~2 hrs. Took us 30 minutes drive from Franz Josef Village. There is a proper parking lot with a cafe and a little souvenir shop. Nice place to rest at after the walk. #newzealand #walks #scenic

There are 2-3 main viewpoints along the trail, the most famous of which is the Jetty Viewpoint. If the sun is shining, this is the best place to see the reflection of the Southern Alps. Lake Matheson is dark green in color and the water is calm, like a mirror. However, rainy days also have their own charm. The mist rises from the lake, creating a fairyland-like atmosphere. The trail is undulating, sometimes going up the mountain by the lake, sometimes going down to the water's edge. The wooden walkways on the trail are covered with a hexagonal wire mesh anti-slip mat, which makes you feel safe.
