While driving in Scotland, I couldn't help but be amazed on everything that I saw from inside the car. Cameras just don't do Scottish highlands especially Glencoe any justice. Located within the awe-inspiring Lochaber Geopark in the Highlands, the deep valley and towering mountains of Glen Coe were carved out centuries ago by icy glaciers and volcanic explosions. Glencoe village is picturesquely located between the banks of Loch Leven and the mouth of the famous glen, making it the perfect base for exploring the area of Lochaber, known as the Outdoor Capital of the UK. #glencoe #highlands

Many places are inaccessible without a car, so joining a tour is a good way to get around. Bus tours are highly recommended for solo travelers, as you can sightsee at your own pace without worrying about being alone👍 [Tour itinerary] ❶ Start in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Most tours depart from Edinburgh. There are also tours from Glasgow, so choose a tour that suits your base. ❷ Stop by the photo spot in Glencoe. A scenic spot where the scene of Hagrid's old house in Harry Potter was filmed. ❸ Around Fort William Station It's just around noon, so it's lunchtime. There are souvenir shops here, so you can spend your time however you like. Fort William often appears in Outlander. ❹ Highlight of the tour: Glenfinnan Viaduct The viaduct is famous for that scene in the Hogwarts Express. Unluckily, the train (Jacobite) was out of service on the day I participated, so I couldn't see it, but some tours will bring you there when the train passes by, so check the train schedule before booking your tour⚠️ The view of the hills and the lake was very soothing. If there is time before the next trip, they will stop at a photo spot along the way. I was lucky enough to see a bagpiper playing music🎶 The sight of wild sheep lazing about on the plains was just like the world of Outlander. ❺ Pitlochry Village At the end of the tour, we stop at Pitlochry Village, a good old Scottish village. We didn't have much time, but we spent our time at souvenir shops and cafes☕️ ❻ We returned to Edinburgh. It was around 7pm. It was a long tour of about 12 hours, but we were very satisfied😊 The participation fee was just under 10,000 yen. It was a great deal with so much to see, wasn't it? It's impossible for me to go around everything on my own without a driver's license, so I'm very grateful for this kind of tour. Hiking Route For my hike, I chose the challenging yet rewarding route of Stob Coire Sgreamhach, Bidean nam Bian, and Stob Coire nan Lochan. This route is rated as intermediate to advanced, spanning 13 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1,300 meters. It took me around 8-9 hours to complete, and the journey was filled with both physical challenges and breathtaking views. Terrain and Conditions The terrain on this hike was undoubtedly challenging. The trail was steep and rocky, with sections that tested my ankle stability. I chose to ascend from the right and descend from the left, as the descent on the right was too steep and deemed too difficult. Even the left descent, while still rocky, was manageable with caution. It's important to note that the weather in Glencoe can be unpredictable, with strong winds and fog common. During my hike, I encountered changing weather conditions, which added to the adventure but also required proper preparation. Equipment and Clothing Proper gear is essential for any hike in Glencoe. I wore a wool sweater and a waterproof jacket, which kept me warm and dry despite the changing weather. I also wore sturdy hiking boots and thick socks to protect my feet on the rocky terrain. Additionally, I packed a headlamp for the descent, as daylight can diminish quickly in the mountains. While I didn't end up needing ice claws or gaiters, they are good items to consider packing, especially during winter or icy conditions. Scenic Highlights The scenic highlights of this hike were numerous and breathtaking. The views from the peaks were breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of the Glencoe Valley and surrounding mountains. The Buachaille Etive Mor peak, in particular, is known for its stunning views and was a highlight of my hike. #luxuryhotels We would tell everyone to stay here and could not have been more pleased with it. I just want to address some of the other reviews I have seen. Let's be clear, this is an inn in Glencoe, not a luxury hotel in Edinburgh. The room and furniture was a little old, BUT it was clean and neat. While the bathroom is not the largest, it was clean and perfect for my wife and my self. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were very friendly, we wished we had stayed more nights! We will be back!

Great place to go back to and relax in after a hard hike or being out on the water.
