Elected European Capital of Culture in 2003, some facilities are still in place and give the city a certain originality. 1. The Schlossberg Nothing better to start your visit to Graz than to observe it from above! Direction the Schlossberg, a hill culminating at 123 meters and overlooking the city where you can enjoy a superb panorama. To get there from Graz city center, you have the following options: On foot from Schlossbergplatz square, allow about 30 minutes to climb the 260 steps By elevator, which will take you inside the hill By funicular, starting from the Place de l’Empereur François-Joseph to the summit. Schlossberg means “Castle Mountain”, because at the time, there was indeed a castle on the hill. Until the 19th century, the Schlossberg served as a military post and refuge for the inhabitants of Graz in the event of enemy attacks. Napoleonic troops never managed to take it. 2. The Main Square The Hauptplatz is the main square to see during your stay in Graz and the ideal starting point for doing some sightseeing. Designed in the Middle Ages to accommodate the market, it still remains the nerve center of the city today . In particular, you can admire the Rathaus (the town hall) and many historic buildings with superb colored and painted facades. The square is lively all day and late into the evening. I was back there two years ago .The beauty of it is that you never tire of the classic views, while always finding something new. In my case, the ARGOS building by Zaha Hadid had finally been completed and there's a Red Bull Racing car attached to the rocky walls of the Schloßberg. The journey begins in Prague, gliding through southern Bohemia before reaching Vienna. After Vienna, the scenery quickly becomes more dramatic as the train ascends into the Semmering region. Sitting by the window, I watch charming villages and mountain vistas unfold one after another. Eventually, the train arrives in Graz, a lively university city with a Mediterranean feel. Its old town is full of red roofs and Renaissance courtyards, and the view from Schlossberg hill is the perfect way to end the trip. |Graz What a magical hiking place! 💥Grazer Kalvarienberg ❤️Kalvarienbergstraße 155, 8020 Graz 🎊I thought it was a mountain, but it was actually flat land. There is only one place that is very high up, and that is where Jesus suffered P2. We mortals cannot go there (at least not today). 🎊You can see the P1 building from a distance. After arriving, walk half a circle around where Jesus is, and you will pass by the seats under the magnolia tree 💺P3, and the courtyard with tall cherry trees P4-5. 🎊The hiking route actually runs along the Mur River. In the cherry blossom garden, choose [Go Left] and you will soon encounter the strange tree 🌲 on P6, which is the entrance to the main route. 🎊This road can be roughly divided into three sections (by style). ✅-The first section is an open road like P7. ✅-The second section is a tree-lined avenue like P8 where the road becomes narrower but still very flat, and then you will encounter shore scenery like P9-11. The second section ends (roughly) at P12 Forest Cafe. I was hungry when I got here, so I went in to have a meal and drink a coffee☕. 🎊Young people are mostly running, cycling or Scooter, so... I had lunch in the forest with a group of old men... The environment is really amazing It's so heavenly! If I wasn't so cold because of not having enough clothes on, I could sit here all day. P13-17 ✅-Paragraph 3: After leaving the cafe, continue walking forward. Soon the road begins to become rugged and narrow, and gets closer and closer to the water. At this time, riding a bike or scooter becomes impossible. I walked until (I thought) there was no road left (at which point I saw a bridge not far ahead). I used my hands and feet to climb to a higher place, thinking that I could get to the road 🛣️ from here. But it seems unlikely.
