𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩*⋆✈ Miyagi 𓂃 𓈒𓏸 Ishinomaki Maruhon Maki Art Terrace (Ishinomaki City Complex Cultural Facility) Maruhon Maki Art Terrace was designed by architect Sosuke Fujimoto, who also designed the Pavilion in Naoshima, Toilet in Nature in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, and SHIROIYA in Gunma Prefecture. This four-story complex cultural facility, which has a variety of functions including halls, galleries, museums, and training rooms, was built by consolidating the halls and museums in Ishinomaki City that were forced to be demolished in the 2011 earthquake into one location. A pure white four-story building that looks like a row of house-shaped and chimney-shaped buildings. The interior of the building is based on white, and the lobby is on the main street that stretches 170m from east to west. Atmosphere/Facilities: This time I went to Tashirojima and Matsushima in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture!! I definitely recommend Tashirojima to people who love cats!! Tashirojima in Miyagi Prefecture is about 40 minutes by ferry from Ishinomaki. The island is not very populated, with only a few buildings that look like a campsite and a cafe. There are also many ruins and vacant houses. It was raining on the day we visited, but if you go on a sunny day, there are cats everywhere. They are very friendly. You can walk around the island. Took the Senseki Line to Miyagi Prefecture, Ishinomaki City! Ishinomaki City is the second hometown of manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. From Ishinomaki Station, the streets of the city are lined with statues of characters from Ishinomori's representative works such as Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider, Sarutobi Ecchan, and Sabu & Ichi's Detective Tales. Ishinomori once served as an assistant to Tezuka, so the character designs are very similar to Tezuka's works. After walking for more than 20 minutes and crossing a large bridge, we arrived at the Ishinomori Manga Museum in Ishinomaki City! Located on an inland island in Ishinomaki City, this place is also known as Manga Island. The entrance fee is 900 yen, and it is closed every Tuesday. Every three months or so, the museum holds a special exhibition of an anime. The museum is filled with original drawings and introductions related to Ishinomori's works, with more items related to Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider. Visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto was a mesmerizing experience, steeped in spiritual significance and natural beauty. Known for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that trail up the sacred Mount Inari, this Shinto shrine is not only a stunning visual spectacle but also a profound testament to Japanese culture and religious practice. As I walked along the pathways lined with torii gates, it felt like stepping into another world. The vibrant red gates, each donated by individuals or businesses seeking blessings, created a mesmerizing, tunnel-like effect. The further I ventured, the quieter and more contemplative the journey became, offering a peaceful escape from the bustling city. The shrine complex itself was sprawling, with multiple smaller shrines and structures dotted along the route. Each had its unique charm and significance, adorned with fox statues, which are regarded as the messengers of Inari, the god of rice and prosperity. Hiking up the mountain offered not only a spiritual journey but also stunning views of Kyoto and the surrounding landscape. The hike was moderately challenging, but the changing scenery and serene atmosphere made it a rewarding experience. Exploring the shrine in the early morning or late afternoon was ideal to avoid the crowds and to fully absorb the tranquil ambiance. The soft light at these times also brought a magical quality to the torii gates and the forested mountain path. Fushimi Inari Taisha's cultural and spiritual significance was palpable. It was a place where tradition was alive, and the connection between nature, humans, and the divine was beautifully manifested. I flew from Centrair to Sendai Airport to visit the sites of the Great East Japan Earthquake. After arriving at Sendai Airport, I rented a car and visited Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture There were many remains of the disaster that still convey the tragic situation at the time, such as elementary schools, train platforms, and apartment buildings that collapsed due to the tsunami. We don't know when a major earthquake will hit Aichi Prefecture where I live. I will use this trip as a lesson for the future and live my daily life without forgetting it.

Tashirojima is located in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, and is a small island among the Matsushima Islands off the Sanriku Coast. It covers an area of only 3 square kilometers. In the past, the islanders lived on sericulture and silk production. To drive away the natural enemy of silkworms - the mice, it was customary for almost every household to keep cats. To this day, even though sericulture is no longer practiced, the long-standing relationship with cats, akin to family members, has resulted in the island having over a hundred 'cat citizens', even though there are only about 60 elderly residents. #FreeHongKongAirTickets 45 minutes by high-speed ferry from Ishinomaki Port, Miyagi Prefecture. There are more cats living on Tashirojima than residents. You can see the cats as they are, taking naps on the roadside or playing with their friends at the island's station. Many of the cats are very friendly, rubbing against you or purring when you pet them. Around noon, you can see the islanders feeding the cats, and the cats lined up in a row eating their food is a spectacular sight! Tourists are prohibited from feeding the cats or playing with toys on the island, so please follow the rules and enjoy yourself without causing any trouble to the islanders or cats.

An island that has more cats than human population! Tashirojima island! This place are mostly live by elderly age 65+ and above, no young resident. In the old days, farmers brought cats to this island to help with pest control for silkworm farm. There were many mice around and they decided to have cats to help around! Since then, the island has been living with more than 100 cats and only 60 residence. Visitors are not allowed to feed the cats! #japan

I visited for the first time in a while with a friend from Hirosaki. There is a new torii gate at Hiyoriyama Park⛩️ The view from the shrine was very grand and pleasant. I thought about the earthquake and vowed to burn out my current life. Afterwards, I had a sea urchin and salmon roe bowl at a restaurant called Hiratsuka. It was the end of the season so I wasn't sure if it would be okay, but they were able to serve me (they said they didn't serve me yesterday). I'm grateful for this connection! Of course it was delicious, and the staff were all very pleasant, so I'll definitely come back.

Every year on August 15th, the Wabuchi Summer Festival is held at the Wabuchi Waterside School in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture. 7,000 colorful lanterns light up the night with a fantastic atmosphere. Many people flock to the festival every year to take photos of this view. I am also impressed by the colorful lights that stretch as far as the eye can see every year! *Due to the coronavirus, the festival was canceled in 2020 and 2021, but it was revived last year. It is a small festival in a small area, but it is very beautiful, so why not come and visit? If you are coming by car, it is easier to find the festival if you head to Wabuchi Elementary School and Kamitori Bridge as your destinations.
