India a huge diverse country with so many different regions and cultures to experience. Some of the most popular places to visit include New Delhi and Agra, however places in Southern India like Kovalam are often overlooked. Kovalam is a beautiful seaside town located in Kerala. The area is famous for the backwaters and on my trip I decided to go on a boat ride! It was really beautiful seeing all of the nature and it was different to what I expected in India. I recently visited Kovalam, and it truly lives up to its reputation as one of India’s finest beach destinations. The scenic coastline, lively atmosphere, and warm hospitality make it a must-visit! Location & Accessibility: Kovalam is easily accessible from Trivandrum International Airport (10 km away). I took a prepaid taxi from the airport, and the drive was smooth, taking around 20-30 minutes. Tuk-tuks and rental scooters are also available for exploring the area. Beaches & Attractions: • Lighthouse Beach was my favorite – soft golden sand, clear blue waters, and an iconic lighthouse offering breathtaking panoramic views. • Hawah Beach is great for a quieter experience and watching fishermen at work. • Samudra Beach is more secluded, perfect for relaxation away from crowds. Food & Restaurants: Kovalam is a paradise for seafood lovers! I highly recommend trying Malabar prawn curry and Karimeen Pollichathu (grilled pearl spot fish) at local beachside shacks. There are also plenty of options for vegetarian and international cuisines. Accommodation: I stayed at leela , which offered great beachfront views, friendly staff, and clean rooms. Kovalam has everything from budget stays to luxury resorts, so there’s something for every traveler. Overall Experience: ✔️ Pros: Stunning beaches, amazing seafood, relaxing Ayurvedic spas, and a laid-back vibe. ❌ Cons: Some parts of the beach can get crowded and need better maintenance. ⭐ Rating: 4.5/5 Would I visit again?
