One of Japan's Three Great Views - Snowy Matsushima Bay Cruise
#JanuaryGoodDestinations2025
Matsudo Bay in winter is really a heart-warming place. When I stepped onto the cruise ship, the scenery in front of me instantly calmed me down. The boat slowly pulled away from the harbor, surrounded by snow, flakes gently falling, and the air was cold and fresh. The islands and the sea in the distance are intertwined like an exquisite painting, making me completely forget the time.
Matsushima Bay, known as one of the "Three Most Scenic Spots in Japan", is indeed worthy of its reputation. The cruise ship ripples on the water, and the small islands in front of us are covered with snow, making people feel that each island is a hidden treasure. The sight of snow and sea water blending together is like entering a dream.
The tour guide on the boat began to explain the history of Matsushima. Although it was all in Japanese and I couldn’t understand it, looking at those small islands with strange shapes and unique characteristics really made me feel very novel. Each island has a different outline and size, as if they each have a different story, making people unable to help but imagine their past.
Snow flakes fell, the boat rocked gently, and the tranquility was completely relaxing. I was completely intoxicated by the atmosphere. Both the scenery and the mood made me feel that this was a journey worth remembering forever.
If you also want to take a dream trip in winter, a cruise in Matsushima Bay is really an experience not to be missed. Moreover, the food and shopping here are definitely rewarding.
🚉Transportation strategy:
Take the train from Sendai Station to Matsushima Bay Station. The round trip is about 840 yen. The journey is not long and is very suitable for a relaxing round trip.
🏖️Must-visit attractions:
Of course, a lake cruise in Matsushima Bay! On the boat, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the archipelago, especially the snow scenery in winter, which is really intoxicating.
💞Must-eat food:
• 丸焼きたこせんべい Matsushima Northeast Main Store: The octopus pancakes here are really delicious, and there are also prawn pancakes, but I personally prefer octopus, and it is cheaper than prawns.
• Croissantya Sakusaku Store: The croissants here are so delicious! You can enjoy limited-edition croissants, soft serve ice cream and coffee on site, and take away stuffed croissants when you leave. I recommend the pistachio flavor, which is very fragrant.
• Oyster curry bread pensee: This curry oyster bread is award-winning, it is really fragrant and has a strong oyster flavor.
💰Shopping Guide:
• Matsushima Kamaboko Honpo: Not only can you DIY grilled fish cakes here, but you can also buy Sendai specialties, such as Dizhiyue and edamame rice cakes, especially edamame rice cakes, which are really delicious! There are also loose Di Zhiyue cakes, and you can decide whether to buy a gift box after eating.
Songdo is not only a place of natural beauty, but also has tons of delicious food and interesting shopping options. This trip was truly an adventure full of wonderful memories. Whether it was the cruise ship, the snow scenery, or the local food and souvenirs, I felt that this journey was so worthwhile!
