The OG Cherry Blossom Legend 🌸
#cherryblossom25 Miharu Takizakura isn’t just any cherry tree, it’s like the superstar grandma of sakura trees. This ancient beauty is over 1,000 years old and still rocking those cascading pink petals like a total boss. The name Takizakura means waterfall cherry, and trust me, standing under its drooping blossoms feels like you’re caught in a gentle sakura waterfall.
The whole vibe here is magical. It’s a single tree, but wow, what a presence. People come from everywhere to soak in the peaceful energy, snap pics, and maybe have a quiet moment with nature.
It’s not crowded or noisy, just pure springtime serenity mixed with some serious tree respect. Bonus points: it’s lit up at night during peak bloom, so you can get those dreamy sakura views even after dark.
If you want cherry blossom awe with zero fuss, Miharu Takizakura is where it’s at.

Miharu Takizakura, Fukushima
#cherryblossom25
Miharu Takizakura is not just a cherry tree — it’s a living legend. This over-1,000-year-old weeping cherry tree is one of Japan’s three great sakura, and seeing it in bloom felt like a spiritual experience. The name “Takizakura” means “waterfall cherry tree,” and the way its massive branches cascade with blossoms really does resemble a pink waterfall. I planned my visit to Fukushima around this tree, and it was worth every second. The area around it is carefully preserved and quiet, with benches and gentle walking paths. I went just after sunrise when the morning light hit the blossoms perfectly. The photos I posted with #cherryblossom25 don’t even capture half the majesty of seeing it in real life. Locals treat the tree like a beloved elder — and honestly, you can feel its presence. This wasn’t just a photo stop; it was a deeply peaceful moment I’ll never forget.

The legend of the legend Sakura
#aprilblooms
It is a nationally designated natural monument, which is estimated to be more than 1000 years old, and is one of the three largest cherry blossoms in Japan. In Reiwa 4, it celebrated its 100th anniversary of being designated as a national natural monument.
The tree is 13.5 metres high, the root circumference is 11.3 metres, and the branches are 25 metres from the trunk to the east and 20 metres from the north to the south, and the appearance from close is a masterpiece. It is also said that it came to be called "taki cherry blossoms" because small light red flowers bloom all over the branches and look like a falling waterfall. Not only during the day, but also the waterfall cherry blossoms lit up at night are a must-see.

Miharu Thousand Years Sakura
#cherryblossom2024
The population of the city of Miharu in Fukushima Prefecture is about 17 thousand people. Most of the time, the city lives like an ordinary farming settlement, but every spring almost 300 thousand guests come here. They all want to see the famous sakura Miharu Takizakura.
"Takizakura" translates as "sakura flower waterfall". In spring, cascades of gorgeous pale pink flowers bloom on its branches. You won't see such an amazing sight anywhere else in Japan.
The type of this sakura is Pendula Rosea
In 1922, Miharu Takizakura was recognized as a national monument
The tree reaches a height of 12 meters, and the flowering branches cover an area with a diameter of about 20 meters
During the flowering season, narrow city streets can be congested, making it difficult to travel by car. It is best to use the buses that run from Miharu Station at this time. A round trip, along with a fee for admiring the tree, will cost 1,000 yen. Miharu Station is on the Banetsu East line, between Koriyama and Iwaki. Both of these cities can be reached from Tokyo.
If possible, try to admire the famous sakura at night. Thanks to the backlight, it looks completely different in the dark than it does in the daytime, but it's just as great.
In the surrounding area
After admiring the cherry blossoms, think about a trip to the surrounding area — for example, to the north, to the city of Iizaka at the hot springs. You can go to the Abukuma cave, but you will have to leave early in the morning. Children will love the Likka-chan Castle, dedicated to the doll of the same name. There you can change into a doll costume, go to the museum and do some shopping.

[Fukushima Cherry Blossoms] A natural monument where countless small pale pink cherry blossoms bloom 🌸 *Access tips included
Fukushima Prefecture has one of the three most famous cherry blossoms in Japan, and there are several cherry blossom spots worth seeing, but this time I would like to introduce "Miharu Takizakura" in Miharu Town, Fukushima Prefecture, which is considered one of the three most famous cherry blossoms in Japan.
[About Miharu Takizakura]
It is a weeping cherry tree that is a nationally designated natural monument and is estimated to be over 1,000 years old. It is counted as one of the three most famous cherry blossoms in Japan, along with Yamanashi's "Jindai Sakura" and Gifu's "Usuzumi Sakura".🌸
It is called Miharu "Taki" Sakura because the branches are covered with small pale pink flowers, and the appearance looks like a waterfall. 🧐
It is a cherry blossom spot that every Japanese person should see at least once, so please do!
You can now purchase admission tickets online in advance!
You will need to specify the date of your visit, but cancellations are free✨
If you purchase on the day, you will have to line up, so if you have decided to go, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance!
The best time to see them is probably mid-April?
[How to get there] ------------
To get to Miharu Takizakura, if you don't have a car, you can take a bus from Miharu Station 🚍
We recommend taking the bus from Miharu Station!
Depending on the flowering situation, there will be an increase in the number of buses between Koriyama Station and Miharu Station, and a special bus called "Takizakura-go" will depart from Miharu Station!
・Operating period: April 6th to 14th, 2024
※Operating days vary depending on the day, so check the website
The great thing about this is that while it is expected to be crowded if you go by car, this bus and taxi go on roads that regular cars do not use (and are not allowed to use), so you can avoid traffic jams ✨
If you can't go by car but are having trouble accessing it, please try this out 😁
------------
That's all!
What do you think?
I have conquered the three major cherry blossoms!
Everyone, please try to conquer it 😆

[City Hill
[City Hill Observatory]:
Cityyama Observatory is the best place to overlook Kagoshima City and look forward to Sakurajima. The mountain roads up the mountain are very rugged, and the surrounding ancient trees cover the sky and are extremely dense. All the way is shaded and covered with leaves. Standing on the Chengshan Observatory, this small and calm town of Kagoshima has a panoramic view. Although the observatory is not big, but after all, free attractions.
I don't know why, there are so many cats on Chengshan Park, you never know which side of the next one suddenly pops out.
Looking around Kagoshima Prefecture, the houses seem to be very messy, and in the distance you can see the Sakurajima volcano hidden in the clouds.
The estimated time of the tour here is 30 minutes, and there will be some shops selling souvenirs.
