Let me introduce the preparations before the trip in detail: . 🇳🇿 Visa: E-visa, the application materials are simple, you can DIY it yourself! If the family travels together, the whole family can apply with one account. The average visa issuance date is about 30 days, so it is recommended to apply as early as possible and leave two months of margin. . ✈️Air tickets: It is recommended to buy Chinese airlines for international flights. Air New Zealand's direct flights to Shanghai are often rescheduled and cancelled for unknown reasons. It is difficult to communicate with the customer service hotline. I chose China Eastern Airlines, which flies directly from Shanghai to Auckland. I departed in the early morning and arrived in Auckland at 4pm local time. The time was perfect, and the departure time did not take up much daytime. There are two choices for flights within New Zealand: low-cost airline Jetstar and Air New Zealand. Friends who want to choose Jetstar should remember to buy checked baggage directly. Jetstar can check in 19KG of baggage, while Air New Zealand can check in 23KG. Hotel 🏨Hermitage Hotel, restaurant view. We stayed at Mount Cook and planned to take a helicopter and hike the Tasman Glacier the next day, but unfortunately the clouds were too low so we cancelled it. We then went hiking on the Hooker Trail. 🚗Self-driving navigation & parking location: White Horse Hill Campsite Car Park 🧊The end point is hooker lake 🚶The whole journey is 10km+, 🕐about 3 hours The trail is mature and needs to cross 3 suspension bridges. The first suspension bridge takes about half an hour to go back and forth, and the second one takes more than an hour to go back and forth. There is a toilet about half an hour after the end point. It is recommended to finish outside. 👟: Remember to wear waterproof shoes in winter, as it will be difficult to walk after rain. A great experience!

One of the best trips I took whilst in New Zealand was a day trip to Mount Cook National Park. To be honest, a day really isn’t enough for this beautiful place but unfortunately I was under time constraints! ⏰ I was based in Christchurch which is about a 4 hour drive from Mount Cook. You can rent a car and drive yourself or take one of the many tours leaving the city. If you’re taking a tour be sure to book it early as they sell out fast! I decided to go with Cheeky Kea which was pretty decent. 🚌 Itinerary: 1️⃣ Lake Tekapo - This is the first of two lakes you’ll pass by on the way to Mount Cook. It’s a pretty nice stop and the church is one of the most photographed buildings in New Zealand. To be honest, I preferred Lake Pukaki as it had less tourists. 2️⃣ Lake Pukaki - This is the second lake you’ll stop at and it was amazing. The clouds cleared so I could see Mount Cook and the water was so blue! One of the most beautiful lakes I’ve seen. 3️⃣ Mount Cook Hooker Valley walking track - There are numerous walks you can do but if you’re stuck for time I would recommend this one. They suggest it takes about 3 hours to complete but I managed it in 2 along with several photo stops. It’s not a loop so you will have to return the way you came. Hooker Valley Track is a popular hiking trail at the foot of Mount Cook. Depending on the weather, the hike could be challenging at times, such as our first time here. The first 2km was okay, then the rain and wind became so strong that some of us decided to head back. I am so proud of my parents and kids who made it all the way despite being amateur at hiking. Definitely an unforgettable experience. #freehotelstay
