[Going during the Obon holidays!] 3 nights and 5 days touring Toronto and Niagara Falls
1️⃣Day 1: First visit to Canada
On August 10, 2024, I took advantage of the Obon holiday and finally set off on my long-awaited trip to Canada! I headed to Toronto on flight AC10 (departing Narita at 17:00, arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport at 16:15). After arriving, the bright summer sky spread out even in the evening, and my expectations for the trip increased. 🍁
To relieve the fatigue of traveling on this day, I went directly from the airport to a hotel in the city. I decided to take a good rest in preparation for sightseeing the next day. It is important not to push yourself on the first day of arrival and to refresh your body. 🏨
2️⃣Day 2: Enjoy the diverse charms of sightseeing in Toronto
On the second day, I enjoyed sightseeing all day in Toronto, the largest city in Canada. I experienced a course that efficiently toured the city packed with history, gourmet food, and spectacular views. 🏙️
💡Casa Loma
The first thing I visited in the morning was Casa Loma, a historic building that represents Toronto. This beautiful building, reminiscent of a European castle, is often used for filming movies. I was able to learn about Toronto's history while touring the luxurious interior and vast gardens.
💡St. Lawrence Market
For lunch, I enjoyed local flavors at St. Lawrence Market. I especially recommend the famous peameal bacon sandwich. The thick, juicy bacon is appetizing and the portions are very filling. There are plenty of souvenirs and fresh ingredients in the market, so it was a fun time just to look around.
💡CN Tower
In the afternoon, I went to the CN Tower, a symbol of Toronto. From the observation deck, I was overwhelmed by the view of Lake Ontario and the cityscape of Toronto. The thrilling glass floor area was a little nerve-wracking, but it's also a great photo spot. The sunset from here is especially recommended!
💡Toronto Sign
In the evening, we took a commemorative photo at the "Toronto Sign" at Nathan Phillips Square. At night, the sign was lit up, creating a fantastic atmosphere. It was a day where we fully experienced the diverse charms of the city.
3️⃣Day 3: Niagara Falls and the surrounding small towns
After about two and a half hours by rental car from Toronto, we finally arrived at Niagara Falls. We were impressed by the power of nature as we experienced this waterfall, one of the three largest waterfalls in the world, up close.
💡Niagara Falls
After arriving, we boarded the Hornblower and got very close to the falls. The power of the falls as we were showered with water was truly overwhelming! We were able to feel the grandeur of nature with our whole body. 🚢
💡Niagara Falls Town
After sightseeing at the falls, we strolled around the small towns around the area. There are plenty of cafes, souvenir shops, and attractions, and the atmosphere is lively and fun. 🎠
💡Niagara-on-the-Lake
In the afternoon, we took a little trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. In this town famous for its wineries, we walked through the beautiful streets and sampled Canadian ice wine. The relaxed time passed, and we felt a different kind of healing from the power of the falls. 🍷
4️⃣5️⃣Days 4-5: Returning home with memories of Canada
On the last day, we boarded flight AC01 (departing from Toronto at 14:10, arriving at Haneda the next day at 16:10) and returned to Japan. It was a trip where I was able to enjoy both the modern urban charm of Toronto and the grandeur of Niagara's nature, and I felt like I wanted to visit other parts of Canada next time. 🛫
A 3-night, 5-day trip to Canada that's perfect for the Obon holidays. Please use this as a plan to enjoy a balanced mix of urban sightseeing in Toronto and the great outdoors of Niagara!
