#outdooradventures #100waysoftravel
Embarking on an outdoor adventure to swim with whale sharks in Oslob, Philippines, was an exhilarating experience that combined the thrill of close encounters with nature's gentle giants in their natural habitat. This small coastal town in the southern part of Cebu Island is renowned for its whale shark watching, drawing adventure seekers and marine enthusiasts from around the world.
The day started early, with a boat ride into the calm waters just off the coast of Oslob. The anticipation built as the local guides briefed us on safety protocols and the importance of respecting these magnificent creatures by maintaining a safe distance and not using flash photography. The commitment to conservation and ethical tourism practices was evident, adding a meaningful layer to the adventure.
As we donned our snorkeling gear, the first outlines of the whale sharks began to appear in the clear blue water below. The moment I entered the water, the sheer size and serene grace of the whale sharks struck me. Despite their daunting size, these filter-feeding giants were incredibly gentle as they glided effortlessly through the water, occasionally breaking the surface with their massive mouths to feed on plankton.
Swimming alongside the whale sharks was a surreal and humbling experience. Being in such close proximity to these enormous yet docile fish was awe-inspiring. The visibility was excellent, allowing us to see the beautiful patterns on their skin and their calm, unbothered movements as they navigated the waters with tourists observing from a respectful distance.
The local guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their roles in protecting and educating people about whale sharks. Their guidance made the experience not only exciting but also informative, providing insights into the life cycle and migration patterns of these creatures.
This adventure in Oslob was more than just an opportunity to swim with whale sharks; it was a profound encounter with one of the ocean's most majestic inhabitants. It underscored the importance of wildlife conservation and responsible tourism in preserving these moments for future generations.
For anyone seeking a unique and memorable outdoor adventure, swimming with whale sharks in Oslob is an experience that offers both the thrill of the encounter and the beauty of engaging with nature in a respectful and sustainable way.

Tumalog waterfalls #2
It is a very beautiful and wonderful natural tourist attraction. The Blue Waterfall is not far from the whale shark viewing point. Tourists can ride a motorbike into the waterfall. Inside, there is also a spa, natural river fish, and the water is very clear, like turquoise. It is very beautiful. Anyone who comes to Cebu should come here. Just going down to share the water is very cool. It is like returning to the beautiful nature.

Tumalog Falls is a beautiful, tall waterfall. The water below is bright blue. Everyone can go swimming. It is surrounded by green forests. Watch the sun reflecting on the water. Or you can soak your feet in the fish spa for free. It is a tourist attraction that is very abundant. Take beautiful pictures. It is near the whale shark viewing point. Not far away. Nature is very beautiful.

‘Tumalog Falls’, the motif of the Cebu travel movie Avatar
This is Tumalog Falls, the inspiration for the movie Avatar!
You can not only see the magnificent waterfall, but also play in the water and experience natural doctor fish :)
It is far from Cebu Mactan Airport, but you can also go on an Oslob whale shark tour, so if you are traveling to Cebu, I highly recommend going there.

[Philippines/Cebu] Oslob
This is a tour to swim with whale sharks. It's not too expensive, and the atmosphere and security are relatively good, so I highly recommend it. There was a woman who participated alone. It takes at least 3 hours by car from downtown Cebu, so you'll have to spend a whole day there, but I think it's worth it.
The time you spend swimming with the whale sharks is also quite long, and although it's just how long it feels, I think it was more than 20 minutes. The whale sharks come pretty close, so you need to be careful not to come into contact with them.
Personally, I think it's a place that anyone going to Cebu should definitely visit.

Aaron Beach Resort
We stayed here in Aaron Beach Resort and it was great. Among all the beaches in Brgy. Tan-awan, Oslob, Cebu, this is the most affordable.Very nice ambiance and wonderful sun rise makes.
Aaron Beach Resort is one of the resorts you can try out if you are planning to have a great time swimming with the whale sharks. It is a 3-4 hour drive from Cebu City.
Locals and tourists visit Oslob mainly due to the presence of enormous whale sharks in the vicinity.
Whale watching can be done early in the morning until lunch because the whale sharks will go to much deeper waters during the afternoon.

Diving with whale sharks 🇵🇭
I am not an experienced diver, however, this company made an exception as I have been diving a few times before and had done the discovery scuba-diving course in MoalBoal the day before.
My friend and I booked package B at ‘Deep zone dive center’ in Oslob, which includes one whale dive, and two boat dives.
The day began at 6:15am where we were picked up at our hotel around the corner in Oslob, then we headed out diving at around 7:45 am for the whale sharks. You get a briefing before you go about the distance you have to keep away from the whale sharks as they are protected and you will be fined if you touch them.
The guide, Robert, was very patient and stayed with us the whole time. We had an hour dive at the whale sharks, before having a short break back at the dive centre, and then we went for our two dives on their new boat.
The first boat dive we saw some black tip sharks and on the second boat dive we saw lots of schools of fish, some barracuda and tuna. At no point did I feel unsafe and, as you can see from the footage, Robert and his team took some amazing photos as well as videos.
The whole day cost 6500 pesos each and lasted around eight hours, a sandwich and water was provided on the boat.
I would definitely recommend this trip, for anyone, looking to go diving as an experienced qualified diver, or experienced unqualified dive whose been many times before (but doesn’t have a license). #urbanexplorer #mytripvlog #awesomepic #2023travelwish #philippines #asiatrip #diving #seasidephotoguide #adventure

Cebu, Philippines | Swim with whale sharks, enjoy waterfalls, and visit historical sites
It is more convenient to go to Oslob by joining a tour group. You can swim with whale sharks, go to the beach, see waterfalls, visit ancient monuments, and a lunch is included.
The hotel will pick you up at 3am, but the car is not big, and then we will go to Oslob, the whole journey will take about 2-3 hours
Arriving in Oslob, the first attraction is of course to swim with whale sharks, but there are too many people there on weekends, so we have to eat while waiting. It was a great experience to have my first contact with a whale shark. Because I couldn’t apply sunscreen (to protect the marine environment), I bought a sunscreen jacket locally at a good price.
At the 2nd stop, we went to see the waterfall. We had to take a short motorcycle ride to get there. The water of the waterfall was clear and transparent.
The 3rd stop is Sumilon Sand Bar. You need to take a boat to the island 🏝️, but due to high tide, the Sand Bar was covered and everyone could only play in the water.
The 4th stop is the ruins park-Cuartel Ruins
Spanish relics include the old Spanish barracks in Oslo, the Church of the Immaculate Conception, and the Spanish fort in Oslo.
🎬 Bonus: If you have time, you might as well try this massage shop, they also have Gel nail service

OSLOB MACAQUE - 🙈 🙉 wild long-tailed Macaques
🐒🐒Awesome activity for all ages! You can park your bike or car near the entrance. There will be a briefing about 5mins before entering where the monkeys are. You will have your own guide. 🍌🥭🍏They will provide fresh fruit or vegetable 🌽to feed the monkeys. The monkeys are very friendly, with no scratching - they will poke you gently for more food though, 🐒 they are baby monkeys so be careful and don't step on their tails. definitely worth to visit. 🐒👣🇵🇭
💰Entrance : P100 for adults.

OSLOB- must see Cuartel & Calle Aragones
👣👣Take a historical walk and witness the unfolding of this history by visiting the Cuartel! 👣👣
🌟
Between two of the oldest streets in Oslob, Calle Aeternidad and Calle Aragones, stands the Oslob Cuartel. This well-preserved structure was built in 1860 but remained unfinished at the end of the Spanish occupation in 1898. 🇪🇸Similar to the Nuestra Señora de la Immaculada Conception, it was also made of coral stones. Cuartel is an unfinished structure built during the Spanish colonization made through the effort of El Gran Maestro Don Marcus Sabandal. It was initially planned to house the Spanish army and was supposed to take part in the first line of defense of the Spaniards during the attack of the Moros. The strong edifice of the quarters was made from the nineteen centimeters thick, coral stones of the collapsed bell tower of its nearby church Nuestra Senora dela Immaculada.
🗿Near the bay area is the statue of Father Julian Bermejo, also known by Cebuanos as El Parroco Capitan or El Padre Capitan. He was the one who spearheaded the building of the defense system against moro invaders, which included creating a chain of watchtowers along the bays of several towns in Southern Cebu, starting from Santander all the way to Carcar.
🔝🇵🇭Give yourself at least 2 hours to be able to see everything. If you are into history a must-see.

Whale Shark Encounter in Oslob
Another popular attraction in the southernmost part of Cebu - in the town of Oslob is Whale Shark watching. Whale Sharks are known to be the biggest species in the world and you can see them close in Oslob! You can also have a close encounter by snorkeling with them. The experience is indeed very memorable and enjoyable. A lot of people flock the area so it is best to go there early so you get to go first in line! Both locals and foreigners visit this place. Oslob is a nice place and the locals are very friendly.

Small coastal town but world famous
One of the high light of my recent trip in our country is the tour in Oslob Cebu. This coastal town is small but world famous because of its whale shark watching tours. The tour is a guided one with pre orientation and supervises by the local government of Oslob. It is a wonderful experience and one you shouldn't be missed in Oslob. Imagine the encounter for real! It is one of the best.
I wish for year 2023 I will be able to travel in South Korea and Japan! Still hoping for that.

Pitstop - otw to seeing whale sharks
Stayed at Down South as were in Oslob for the whale sharks and the Tumalog Falls.
1. Basic hotel with nice personnel.
2. The room is quite basic but definitely clean and comfortable
3. The view of the sea was great and if you are lucky, you will be greeted with a beautiful sunrise.
4. WIFI connection is quite unstable, though.

Tumalog falls
Getting There - cebu Philippines
Nag bus ako south terminal ata ako sumakay.. 3 hours byahe.

Tumalog falls on Cebu Island is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Philippines. The turquoise waters of the falls aren’t quite as vibrant as at Kawasan falls, but the sheer size of the waterfall makes it an incredible place to visit. Due to the somewhat remote location of Tumalog falls in South Cebu it was only discovered in 2012, but thankfully the waterfall is now easily accessible by road. It’s a great place to adventure to as part of a day trip discovering the amazing waterfalls of South Cebu. Two of the other waterfalls worth visiting on the island are Aguinid falls and Kawasan falls. Find out everything you need to know about visiting Tumalog falls with this guide!

Seascape Resort
If there's one thing unique about Oslob from other municipalities or cities in Cebu, apart from the famous whale shark watching attraction, it's really their refreshing and breathtakingly beautiful resorts — those that are really unique to the eyes of the locals.
After the viral hit Santorini-inspired Issa’s Haven Resort and the visually appealing Villa on a Cliff, another resort in Oslob will surely capture again millions of people. Ladies and gents, another first from SUGBO.PH, we are proud to introduce the Seascape Beach Resort – one of Cebu’s best beachfront resorts. Let your eyes bask the breathtaking sunrise and clear turquoise waters. Take a dip in their infinity pool while you soak up the Oslob sun.
The resort is just located along the national highway. Whether you are driving your own vehicle or riding a bus (P170 regular fare) from the South Bus Terminal, it’s recommended to navigate via Waze and search for “Seascape Beach Resort”. If you’re coming from Cebu City, on your left side, there’s a WHITE with gray accent structure.

Cuartel Ruins in Oslob
In the southernmost part of Cebu lies a peaceful flourishing town full of ineffable beauty from its surrounding beaches that draws you in to its dominating mountains filled with underlying wonders. There is no wonder why Oslob often makes it to the top spots to visit in Cebu.
The popular whale sharks or butandings as we call it which frequent the beaches of this town made Oslob a famous tourists spot not just around its neighboring towns and islands but also across the country and even globally. However, aside from this favored whale-watching activity there are other things you can do in Oslob too.
The Municipal Heritage Park consists of Calle Aragones, Immaculate Conception Church, Cuartel, Baluarte, and the baywalk. I would say this is one of the best places to visit in summer because you’ll surely have unlimited Instagram posts with almost every corner of their heritage park offering an ‘instagrammable’ spot.
