Pinglin Guanyin Terrace
#MarchGoodPlaces2025
"Pinglin Guanyin Terrace" is located on a small hill behind Pinglin Junior High School, about 235 meters above sea level. During the Japanese colonial era, it was used as a shrine for residents to worship. After the war, it was taken over by the Nationalist Government and renamed "Guanyin Terrace."
The golden statue of Guanyin stands in the center, facing the "Chajiao Mazu" on the opposite "Siyuan Terrace", silently guarding the residents of Pinglin.
Overlooking the scenery of Pinglin from the "Guanyin Terrace", the entrance of the Snow Mountain Tunnel, the blue Pinglin Arch Bridge, the Tea Museum, Pinglin Old Street, etc. are interwoven into a beautiful scene.
The Guanyin Terrace has a circular landscaped plaza that is 40 feet high and 21 meters in diameter. The statue of Guanyin is located in the center of the square, facing south and overlooking the mountains, symbolizing the long-lasting protection of the people. It is the tallest bronze statue of Guanyin in Taiwan.
The magnificent statue of Guanyin stands tall on the commanding heights of Pinglin, defending Pinglin like a guardian.
Looking around, the 360-degree scenery is shocking, with towering mountains, turbulent valleys, vast tea plantations...
The scenery of Pinglin is in full view, and the traffic on the Snow Mountain Tunnel is clearly visible. It is the best place to appreciate the Snow Mountain Tunnel.
