In 2013, drawing on the advanced experience of industrial relics such as Beijing's '798' and Chengdu's East District Music Park, the Ninth Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and Wansheng Tourism Development Co., Ltd. jointly created the '126 Cultural and Creative Industry Park', forming the current Mianyang 126 Cultural and Creative Park. The origin of this name reflects the profound historical background and industrial heritage of the area. After the overall relocation of the original Ninth Research Institute, hundreds of acres of garden office areas and a large number of red brick buildings were left behind. These buildings and the park have become a cultural and creative park that combines art and connotation. The original Ninth Research Institute was initially the 126th Unit of the Chengdu Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
