This is my 1st experiencing snow. I'm truly amazed by the view of the mountains & the breezy wind touched my heart. Getting There - Myōkō is located in an inland region of north-central Niigata Prefecture, on the border of Nagano Prefecture. Take train or by bus from Tokyo. Attractions - Myōkōkōgen and the former village of Myōkō are famed for their ski resorts. The Myōkō Ski Area has nine main mountain resorts: Myōkō Akakura, Ikenotaira Onsen, Myōkō Suginohara (which boasts the longest ski run in Japan), Seki Onsen, Kyukamura, Myōkō Ski Park, Lotte Arai Resort, Madarao Kogen and Tangram Ski Circus. Hida Sites, Yayoi period archaeological site and National Historic Site Hotels - Hotel Taiko. There are many hotels to accommodate and good for your wallet.

Mount Myoko is a mountain with a rather unique shape, with hot springs such as Akakura Onsen and Tsubame Onsen at the foot of the mountain. It is famous for hiking from spring to autumn and as a ski resort in winter. #japantrip Follow the bear and you'll be there. Akakura Onsen ski was the perfect place to start our trip. Great place to get the feel of having a board back beneath our feet. Great for beginners an some intermediate runs before moving to one of the steeper resorts. Loved this resort and the surrounding area. Lovely little town that has everything you need for a great mountain getaway. Snowboarded here and had a great time on great snow with nice long runs. Not crowded either, especially compared with the U.S. so that was a breath of fresh air! Hopefully we will return one day!

#favouriteitinerary Soba-dokoro Kadoya serves really fantastic soba and it comes in super huge portion! The tempura 🍤 was so nice, crispy on the outside and the ingredients were super fresh. Thankfully they have English menu too so that non-locals can enjoy the soba. The room is simply huge that capable to sleep up to 4pax, there is an onsen at the basement and free wifi covered. The hotel is located less than 5 mins walking distance from Akakura Onsen Ski Field. Remember to pay the onsen tax before check out!
