Perhaps because it was near the end of my trip, Bath didn't wow me as much as Edinburgh did, but Bath has this perfect, cozy charm to everything. And Alexandra Park is one of the best places to experience this "just right" feeling, worthy of its own dedicated post. Built in 1902, this 11-acre park was reportedly created to commemorate the coronation of Edward VII and named after Queen Alexandra. 🌈Why visit? Alexandra Park offers Bath's most breathtaking viewpoint, perched atop Beechen Cliff. While wandering Bath's streets gives you that "lost in the mountains" feeling, here everything becomes clear. Standing at the viewing platform, you'll be treated to a panoramic vista of this UNESCO World Heritage city that's simply indescribable. The sweeping view encompasses not just the iconic honey-colored historic buildings but extends to landmarks like the Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey, the River Avon, and distant hills. On the other side lies the pastoral beauty of Lyncombe Vale, showcasing classic English countryside scenery. 🚶🏻‍♂️How to get there? It's about a 30-minute walk from Bath Spa railway station to the viewpoint - just follow Google Maps. The path can be tricky to find though, requiring you to navigate through a slightly steep wooded park and a residential area. I went at dusk when the lighting was mostly favorable. 📸Must-see spots ✅Main viewpoint: The park's centerpiece attraction features a city map to help identify distant landmarks. From here, Bath unfolds like an intricately woven tapestry - the Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge, and Bath Abbey all visible at a glance. Benches allow you to sit and soak in the view while waiting for sunset. ✅Secondary viewpoint: Closer to the walking path with slightly less expansive views, but particularly good for admiring Georgian architectural masterpieces like the Royal Crescent and The Circus. ⭕Tips: 📆Season: Late spring (May-June) and early autumn (Sept-Oct) are ideal, with fewer crowds. ⏰Timing: Late afternoon visits let you enjoy daytime panoramas while staying for sunset and night views. This is a resort for Roman nobles, and the entire city is a World Heritage Site. The honey-colored classical buildings are a unique and worthwhile experience between the countryside and the town. If you are touring around the UK, Bath is worth savoring. There are many things to do if you stay a few more days! 🔷 Bath Skyline: The most beautiful large lawn with a panoramic view of the city. If you only have time to visit one place, go here! In summer, small yellow flowers bloom 🌼, inspiring people to run freely. An old lady was playing catch with her dog, a heartwarming scene that brings a smile to your face. Once, I saw a couple sitting on the grassy slope, the setting sun painting their sweet profiles beautifully. Occasionally, you'll see some very chill cattle, sheep, and horses. If you pass the small river, you may be lucky enough to see how the dam regulates the water level to allow boats to pass. 🔶 Alexandra Park: Located on a slightly higher hilltop, it is a 20–30 minute walk from the city center, but the view is even more expansive. 🔸 It is recommended to come on a sunny afternoon, wait for the sunset, and then go down the mountain before it gets completely dark to see how the light lazily caresses this honey-colored city. 🔸 The sunlight penetrates the branches and illuminates the clean leaves, and you can catch a glimpse of the historical buildings in the gaps, instantly reminiscent of the legendary Garden of Eden. 🔸 There are two paths to choose from to go up the mountain~ 🔷 Royal Victoria Park: A large park a 15-minute walk from the city center. Further on, there is also the Botanical Garden. There are ponds, small bridges, lawns, a small playground (suitable for all ages and very fun), and an ice cream truck. Barbecuing is allowed! Search for the park name + picnic area on the map to find that area. See below for a simple plan. Prior Park: GBP 12. The most famous is the Palladian Bridge inside, one of only four in the world ❗️ Bath's architecture is really exquisite. University of Bath Fountain Lawn: On the mountain to the southeast, accessible by bus. Walking up, you can pass the Skyline and feed the ducks. Green Park: Right in the city center, with swings, convenient for resting.
