The Arena of Pula, the amphitheatre of Pula is one of the six largest Roman arenas in the world. It is also the only arena in the world that completely preserves all Roman architecture. Built between 27 BC and 68 AD, this building is the largest and best preserved historical site in Croatia. The arena was used mainly for fighting performances. This magnificent Roman period ruin once accommodated 20,000 spectators. Nowadays, the arena is used as a venue for many cultural events in the summer, standing in an empty arena, imagining the hustle and bustle of the old people and the fierce fighting of the gladiators.
