Leaving Hefei, it takes two hours by high-speed rail to Anqing, also known as Yicheng. It was the location of the ancient Wan Kingdom during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and the abbreviation for Anhui Province, "Wan", comes from this. Ancient Wan culture, Zen culture, drama culture, and Tongcheng School culture are all reflected here. Anqing City is the birthplace and development of Huangmei Opera, and is also the hometown of Chen Duxiu, a pioneer of the Chinese New Culture Movement, Deng Jiaxian, a "two-bomb meritorious service", and other figures. Anqing City has 8 national intangible cultural heritages such as Huangmei Opera, Tongcheng Song, and the legend of Peacock Flying Southeast. Therefore, Anqing Museum is also the Chinese Huangmei Opera Museum, which shows what status Huangmei Opera is in the hearts of Anqing people.

Anqing City Museum (Image 1-14) is located at No. 8 Qianjiang Road, Yingjiang District, Anqing City, and together with the Anhui China Huangmei Opera Museum (Image 15) and the Anqing City Revolutionary Relics Exhibition Hall cum Huang Zhen's Life Story Exhibition Hall (Image 16-18), they form three brands under one institution. The total building area is 40,034 square meters, with an exhibition area of 11,680 square meters. The museum is a national key museum and a comprehensive national second-level museum, focusing on historical relics, revolutionary relics, and drama relics. Anqing City Museum has 6 permanent exhibitions and 2 temporary exhibition halls: The first floor houses the calligraphy and painting hall and temporary exhibition hall; The second floor features the coin exhibition, ancient Anqing civilization exhibition, and modern Anqing civilization exhibition; The third floor includes Anqing City Memory and Huangmei Opera Art Exhibition. A city, a story; a memory, a nostalgia. Anqing, this national historical and cultural city along the Yangtze River, has always been a strategic military location, a hub for merchants, and economically prosperous since ancient times. Stepping into Anqing is like entering a rich open-air museum: numerous cultural relics, historical buildings everywhere, streets full of signs, ranging from various professions and business associations to every street, every alley, every person, every item, all steeped in the ancient charm of the old city... This is also what we gained from our visit to the Anqing Museum. Opposite the west side of the Anqing Museum is the Anqing City Sports Center (Image 19-20). Huang Zhen's Life Story Exhibition Hall (Image 16-18) is located in the Anqing City Revolutionary Relics Exhibition Hall, in the scenic Lianhu Park at the southeast corner of the Linghu Lake tourist area in Anqing city. Therefore, after visiting Lianhu Park, we also conveniently visited the exhibition hall. Huang Zhen's Life Story Exhibition Hall, established in 1993, covers an area of 9,067 square meters, with a width of 28 meters and a depth of 100 meters, and a building area of 400 square meters. In the center of the main hall is a bust of General Huang Zhen, with over 1,300 pieces (sets) of revolutionary relics on display. The exhibition content is distributed across four halls, using a wealth of photographic materials and precious revolutionary relics to show the glorious journey of Huang Zhen from the son of a farmer to a general, diplomat, and artist. The exhibition hall is now a provincial-level base for patriotic education, provincial defense education, provincial Young Pioneers education, and a national AA-rated tourist attraction. We visited Huang Zhen's Life Story Exhibition Hall before going to the Anqing City Museum.

The museum is a national key museum and a comprehensive national second-level museum, mainly featuring historical relics, revolutionary relics, and drama relics. During the Eastern Zhou period, Anqing was the site of the ancient Wan state, and the abbreviation 'Wan' for Anhui Province originates from this. In the seventeenth year of the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1147), Shuzhou Deqing Army was renamed Shuzhou Anqing Army, and the name 'Anqing' has been used ever since. Anqing City is a national historical and cultural city, the cradle of the Peking Opera progenitor Hui Troupe, and the hometown of famous personalities such as Chen Duxiu, Deng Jiaxian, and Zhang Henshui. From the twenty-fifth year of the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1760) to the twenty-seventh year of the Republic of China (1938), Anqing was the capital of Anhui Province, serving as the political, economic, and cultural center of the province, and one of the early Chinese cities to embrace modern civilization. 📍 On the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, I arrived at Anqing, a national historical and cultural city, and it started to rain, so I went to the museum first. 📍 Anqing Museum and China Huangmei Opera Museum are two museums in one location, located in Anqing Economic Development Zone, about ten kilometers from the city center. The giant reliefs in the hall are all representative of Anqing's local culture: ancient city walls, Tianzhu Mountain, peacocks flying southeast, the Yangtze River, Zhenfeng Tower, Qiao Tower, camphor tree (city tree). 🚩🚩 The museum has three floors and 6 permanent exhibitions: 📍 Anqing Ancient Civilization Display, second floor; 📍 Anqing Modern Civilization Display, second floor; 📍 Anqing City Memory, third floor; 📍 Huangmei Opera Art Series, third floor; 📍 Anqing Calligraphy and Painting Display, first floor; 📍 Anqing Coin Display, second floor. 📍 During the Spring Festival, there are Huangmei opera performances on the third floor. It takes 2-3 hours to see the six exhibitions, and the second and third floors are the core parts. The commemorative stamp is at the exit of the cultural and creative shop on the first floor. You can make an appointment online in advance to enter with your ID. 🚙🚙 There is a parking lot for self-driving, with many parking spaces. There are buses to the door.
