Anren Ancient Town is located on Yingbin Road, Dayi County, Chengdu. It is quite close to downtown Chengdu, so you can drive there on weekends. It is very convenient and free to enter. The environment in the scenic area is very good, and it is a great place to take photos. There are food and drinks for sale in the scenic area, and the prices are not expensive. There are also many shops selling small commodities, which are basically opened by residents of the ancient town. The scenic area sometimes holds small events. This week, I suddenly decided to go for a walk around the area, so I chose it. When I got out of the high-speed rail station, the taxi driver said that there was nothing in Anren Ancient Town, and suggested I go to Xiling Snow Mountain instead. Some old historical structures still stand ;like the governor's house, temples, the town's river brook, Ming & Qing houses. Self-driving tour on the north and south lines of Sichuan-Tibet (32) "China Museum Town" - Anren Ancient Town Ya'an, Sichuan - Chengdu 2024.9.30 Cloudy weather in Chengdu, temperature 14-22 degrees, G5 Jingkun Expressway - S8 Chengming Expressway. Today, we arrived in Chengdu from Ya'an, all the way on the expressway, and arrived in Dayi County in the morning. Surrounded by many popular scenic spots around Chengdu, there is a low-key and peaceful ancient town hidden - Anren Ancient Town. Anren Ancient Town (5A), has the honors of "National Historical and Cultural Town", "National Garden City Town", "First Batch of National Characteristic Towns", etc., and is the only "China Museum Town" named by the China Museums Association. The core scenic area covers an area of 3 square kilometers, including three core resources: Gongguan Old Street, Liu's Manor Museum and Jianchuan Museum Cluster. Due to time constraints, we only visited Gongguan Old Street (Figure 1), which represents one of the histories of Anren Ancient Town. There are generally three types of "ancient towns" in China: 1. Original and unadorned, with indigenous residents, such as Anjing Ancient Town; 2. Newly built, purely commercialized imitation ancient buildings, such as Luxiang Ancient Town; 3. Protective development of ancient buildings, restoration of old as old, indigenous residents have moved out, such as Anren Ancient Town. The name of Anren Ancient Town is derived from the ancient saying "Benevolent people live in peace", and it has a historical precipitation of nearly 1400 years. The architectural style of the ancient town integrates the customs of the Sichuan-Tibetan people and the romance of Europe. The blue bricks and tiles exude an ancient fragrance, which can be called a "Museum of Ming and Qing Architecture". Its representative is the 27 best-preserved Chinese and Western eclectic old mansion groups in the country, located on both sides of Gongguan Old Street in the ancient town (Figure 2). Jianchuan Museum Cluster named after Fan Jianchuan, a famous private collector in China (Figure 9). Tonight, we will stay in Chengdu (altitude 460 meters). Tomorrow, we will visit the surrounding areas and then head towards the airport.

Additionally, the ancient town still retains a small tramway, but perhaps due to timing, I did not see the small tram nor did I get to ride it. The town has traditional handicrafts such as stone carving, wood carving, and oil-paper umbrellas, as well as new handicrafts like bamboo weaving, shell weaving, and shell painting. The ancient town is quiet, suitable for leisurely strolls and night tours. There are many homestays within the ancient town, making it convenient for accommodation. Nearby, there are also the former residences of Liu Wencai and Liu Wenhui, which are worth a visit.
