This museum, with its square funnel-shaped exterior, is an encyclopedia that opens up the history of Anyang
Anyang is one of the eight ancient capitals of China, having been the capital for dynasties such as Yin Shang, Cao Wei, Later Zhao, Ran Wei, Former Yan, Eastern Wei, and Northern Qi. The Anyang Museum is a national first-class museum, with a square funnel-shaped design that symbolizes the concept of 'heaven is round, earth is square', reflecting the aesthetic view of traditional Chinese architecture. The museum houses 104,760 cultural relics, covering fossils, bronzes, oracle bones, jade articles, stone carvings, ceramics, currency, paintings and calligraphy, and modern artifacts from the Anyang region, from the Paleolithic Age to the modern era. Artifacts from the Yin Ruins period, the Cao Wei period, the Northern Dynasties to the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the Ming and Qing Dynasties are particularly characteristic, displaying the historical and cultural context and genes of the ancient capital, just like an encyclopedia of Anyang. Its basic exhibitions include the Yin and Yecheng Anyang Historical and Cultural Exhibition, and special exhibitions such as the Qu Qing Tomb Relics Exhibition, Anyang Stone Carving Art Exhibition, and Jia Chen Year Dragon Culture Exhibition. The museum's highlights include the Shang dynasty oracle bone inscriptions, Shang dynasty tiger-patterned bronze axes, Tang dynasty sunflower-shaped double phoenix qilin and flying horse pattern bronze mirrors, Shang dynasty 'Ce' bronze ding, Yuan dynasty white-glazed brown-colored cloud dragon pattern porcelain jade pot spring vase, Qing dynasty white jade ruyi, Shang dynasty green jade rabbit, and other precious artifacts. The museum is located opposite the municipal government, next to the Civic Culture Square, with the library and cultural and sports center behind it, and surrounded by commercial areas such as Wanda Plaza and Yiwu International Trade City. It is not far from attractions such as Yi Garden, People's Park, the Museum of Chinese Characters, and the Cathedral, with convenient transportation and leisure facilities. After visiting the Yin Ruins, don't forget to take a tour of this small museum that provides a panoramic introduction to the history of Anyang.
