Mycenae is the ruins of an Aegean civilization city located on the Argos plain in northeastern Peloponnese, Greece, between Corinth and Argos. It is the capital of the Achaeans in the legend of Homer, built by Perseus and ruled by Agamemnon during the Trojan War. The Mycenaean civilization was a late Bronze Age civilization in Greece, named after the city of Mycenae in the Peloponnese. Around 2000 BC, the Greeks began to settle in the southern tip of the Balkans. From the first half of the 16th century BC, some slave countries gradually formed, and the Mycenaean civilization appeared. It has appeared in Mycenae, Tilins, Pylos in the Peloponnese, Thebes, Orhominos, Grasse and Athens in central Greece, and Jolkos in Thessalia. Acropolis, palaces, and large-scale domed tombs; especially the Mycenaean building, whose entrance is the famous Lion's Gate.
