Lateran Basilica, also known as the Basilica of St. John Lateran, is the oldest of the four basilicas in Rome. The halls and halls of the hall are particularly magnificent, resplendent, and rich in various carvings, which are worth watching. History of the Basilica The Basilica of St. John Lateran was once the villa of Roman celebrities, and it was donated by Constantine the Great of the Roman Empire. The church was built in AD 314 and had the Pope in tin until 1308 when a relentless fire completely destroyed it. The present Basilica of St. John was rebuilt in the 14th century, and in the 17th century, it was renovated on a large scale and was beautifully designed. There are statues of Jesus Christ and the Thirteen Apostles in the middle of the hall. On the left side of the entrance, there is a marble statue of Constantine the Great. The bronze door in the middle of the entrance originates from the Senate in Roman times. On the left side of the square in front of St. John's Basilica in Lateran, there is the Mangbai Church in the 16th century. This chapel houses the famous twenty-eight steps, which are the legendary steps that Christ climbed when he was tried. Stored in Jerusalem, it was brought from Jerusalem by the order of the mother during the reign of Constantine the Great and placed here. Coming here to watch the devout believers kneel down here and climb the stairs, one cannot help but marvel at the great power of faith.

The last basilica I visited
Before leaving Roma, I visited this basilica, Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, (P.za di S. Giovanni in Laterano, 4, 00184 Roma RM).
In this basilica, there are less tourists compare to the others, I enjoyed here. Less crowded and simply have the peaceful silent atmosphere to calm yourself. The 12 statues are representing their role and story from the bible, I’m not a Christian, not so sure about it, but sitting in the center and look around is a great experience.
I have an audio guide for this basilica and cloister, listening to the explanations and story allow me to slow down my steps and have the energy from here.

Mother Church of the World
Did you know in the Catholic religion they have a Mother Church of the whole world? And it’s not Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. It’s the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran. Part of its official title is Mother and Head of All Churches in Rome and in the World. It’s the only art basilica in the world and serves as the official seat of the bishop of Rome, the Pope. Something that many people would probably also want the associate with Saint Peters Basilica in the Vatican.

The Archbasilica of St. John Lateran was once the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rome and the official cathedral of the Archbishop of Rome (the Pope). 🎈
It is the oldest and most important of the four major papal basilicas in Rome and is known as the mother church of the Catholic Church worldwide. 👀
It houses 28 steps brought from Jerusalem by Emperor Constantine, which are said to be the steps that Christ climbed when he was tried, known as the "Holy Stairs." 💖
The Archbasilica of St. John Lateran is not only a religious building but also a treasure of art. Come here and feel the sanctity and solemnity of the Catholic Church! 🎉

Visiting one of the four major basilicas in Rome at night: the Basilica of St. John Lateran.
Majestic Rome really requires a lifetime of energy to appreciate. Even if you have been there many times, there will always be new discoveries. It is truly a place of architectural wonders that can make one feel happy to the point of aesthetic exhaustion.
In the evening, I visited the Basilica of St. John Lateran, one of the four major basilicas of the Catholic Church in Rome. The term "major basilica" refers to the fact that it was once the residence of the Pope in Rome. It is the first Christian church in Rome and the world, predating the Vatican by 13 years. Until the 14th century, it was the administrative and residential center of the Pope.
The hall is decorated with gold and marble and was once known as the Golden Palace. Church books record that Emperor Constantine donated a large number of treasures to decorate the hall, and it is said that the Ark of the Covenant, stone tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments, golden candlesticks, as well as the veil and clothing of the high priest Aaron are all kept in the hall.
In the long river of history, the church has been destroyed and renovated several times. The latest reconstruction was carried out by another master, Borromini, who competed with the Baroque giant Bernini, to rebuild the old nave, the papal and cardinal tombs.
The most worth seeing is the transept of the church, with the Gothic-style baldacchino at its center, which was gifted by Pope Callixtus V.
(CharlesV) funded the construction during the tenure of the French Pope Urban V (William de Grimoard). The builder of the canopy was Giovanni di Stefano. Inside the metal grille above the canopy, there is a 19th-century holy reliquary, which replaced the 14th-century one, containing the holy relics of the skulls of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.
