Soba Yuan in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 A soba restaurant located in the grounds of Ashikaga Orihime Shrine. The shrine has a long series of stone steps, with a total of 229 steps, and it is located just before the top. The restaurant is not very large, with six tatami rooms and four tables, but it is a popular restaurant with lines even on weekdays. It is no exaggeration to say that it is almost all about soba, and since they do not serve alcohol, I think the turnover rate is good. Of the many options, I chose the "Enmusubi Soba." The soba has a beautiful color, as the restaurant says, "soba made by coloring it with bleached powder, with a single noodle that turns red and white." The soba is thin, with a firm texture and a good flavor. The purple grated daikon radish served as a side dish is natural. The soba noodles and the grated daikon radish are beautifully colored, and that alone gets me excited. Inside the store, there are tools for making soba noodles and stone mills on display. Looking out the window, you can see the Watarase Bridge and Mount Ashikaga Asama, and the scenery is amazing! It was a wonderful encounter at the store. Ashikaga Orihime Shrine is located on a hill overlooking the city of Ashikaga in Tochigi Prefecture. This shrine is said to have seven divine virtues that create good connections with people, health, wisdom, life, studies, work, and business. It is also popular as a sacred place for lovers and a shrine for matchmaking. There is a hidden heart in the offering box at the main shrine, and it seems to be a popular date spot with the "Love Bell" and heart-shaped padlocks. After praying, head to "Enmusubi no Saka" where you will be greeted by seven-colored torii gates. If you pass through the seven colored torii gates - orange, blue, yellow, green, red, yellow-green, and purple - you will receive even more benefits! It is also a great place for photos. The view of Ashikaga city from the hill is also spectacular. There are many stairs, so be sure to wear comfortable clothes when you go out.
