#Spring0yenTrip Ashikaga was a quiet town where history and nature coexisted in harmony. First we visited Ashikaga School. It is said to be the oldest school in Japan, and we strolled around the grounds, feeling its historical value. The old-fashioned school buildings and gardens spread out, and I was impressed that a place of education from the good old days still remains today. Next we visited Ban'aji Temple. The majestic temple and its gardens were beautiful, and time passed quietly. After that, we visited Orihime Shrine, where we could feel its history as the guardian deity of the Ashikaga clan. In particular, the oldest single-story triple torii gate in Japan was impressive, and its unique shape caught our eye. Also, at the Gakumonden Hall on the grounds, we could see students praying for academic success, and we felt the culture and history of the town deeply. Ashikaga was a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll around historical buildings and shrines.

On the other hand, the wisteria trellis donated by Ashikaga Flower Park is quite tall and has pale purple flowers. This is called "Orihime's Wisteria". The deities enshrined at Ashikaga Orihime Shrine are the god of weaving and the weaver god. The shrine is known as a place of matchmaking because warp and weft threads are woven together to create textiles. Ashikaga Orihime Shrine in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 In 1705, the lord of Ashikaga, Toda Tadatoshi, enshrined two deities, Ame-no-Mikoto, who was said to have woven silk clothes for Amaterasu Omikami, and Ame-no-Yachihime-no-Mikoto, a weaver, at Yakumo Shrine in Ashikaga City in order to establish a weaving shrine. In 1879, Orihime Shrine was moved to the middle of Mount Kijin (now Mount Orihime). The following year, it was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in 1937. The reinforced concrete shrine building looks just like Ryugu-jo Castle. As it is located on the mountainside, you have to climb 229 stone steps to reach the top. 　 There is also "Enmusubizaka" where there are a row of 7 colored torii gates, which are a little gentler. It is a little tough, but the view from the top is spectacular. You can see the Watarase River, Watarase Bridge, Mt. Asama, and more. It is a place where you can even get a panoramic view of the Kanto Plain. The two deities enshrined here are the god of weaving and the weaver. Soba Yuan in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 A soba restaurant located in the grounds of Ashikaga Orihime Shrine. The shrine has a long series of stone steps, with a total of 229 steps, and it is located just before the top. The restaurant is not very large, with six tatami rooms and four tables, but it is a popular restaurant with lines even on weekdays. It is no exaggeration to say that it is almost all about soba, and since they do not serve alcohol, I think the turnover rate is good. Of the many options, I chose the "Enmusubi Soba." The soba has a beautiful color, as the restaurant says, "soba made by coloring it with bleached powder, with a single noodle that turns red and white." The soba is thin, with a firm texture and a good flavor. The purple grated daikon radish served as a side dish is natural. The soba noodles and the grated daikon radish are beautifully colored, and that alone gets me excited. Inside the store, there are tools for making soba noodles and stone mills on display.
