Historic buildings
The Fujian Guild Hall was established relatively early and was relatively large-scale. It was the gathering place of the Fujian community at that time. The Mao Temple was built before the 17th century, and was rebuilt into a tile temple in the 16th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1751), with a tall front door and a middle door. Later, the Fujian Guild Hall became a temple dedicated to the goddess Mazu. The goddess Mazu worshipped was lifelike, kind and fraternal. The gate of the Hokkien Guild Hall is not large, and behind the gate is a long passage leading to a patio where bonsai and flowers are in full bloom. There are many carvings on the double-storey archway on the front. The upper floor reads "Jinshan Temple", the lower floor reads "Fujian Guild Hall", and the back reads "Tianhou Palace" and "Hui I Colleagues", etc. The main hall There are several layers, together with the east and west corridors and patios, it is a courtyard. Inside is the goddess Mazu with a plaque of "Qunqin's Great Mother". There are exquisite frescoes and statues, and there are ancient sailboat models in the hall, which are several meters long and the wood is painted red. The incense in the guild hall is very interesting. The incense hanging like an umbrella hovers down from the roof. Shoes need to be removed after walking through the central courtyard.

Chinese Assembly Hall in Hoi An Old Town, Traces of Chinese Culture
There are several Chinese assembly halls in Hoi An Old Town, the most representative of which are the Guang Zu Assembly Hall (Cantonese Assembly Hall) and the Fu Zu Assembly Hall (Hui An Assembly Hall). These assembly halls are located on Tran Phu Street and other major roads nearby, and are within easy walking distance from the center of the Old Town, so they are not difficult to find. In particular, the Fu Zu Assembly Hall is located at No. 46 Tran Phu Street, making it one of the main attractions you will naturally encounter while walking around the Old Town.
The Chinese assembly halls in Hoi An were built by Chinese merchants from China around the 17th and 18th centuries to serve as community centers. These assembly halls were not just places for gatherings, but also played an important role in continuing local beliefs and traditions. For example, the Fu Zu Assembly Hall was built by merchants from Fujian Province, and they worshipped the sea goddess Mazu to pray for the safety and prosperity of trade. Also, each hall is famous for its gorgeous Chinese-style architecture and elaborate decorations, and is a symbolic building that shows the economic and cultural prosperity of the Chinese community at the time.
The Fujo Hall that I visited was truly an impressive place. From the entrance, the gorgeous dragon carvings and intricately decorated patterns caught my eye. When I went inside, there was a large altar to the goddess Mazu, and I felt a quiet atmosphere with the smell of incense. The garden inside the hall was also very pretty, decorated with a pond and flowers, making it a great place to take pictures. Above all, this place is not only beautiful as a building, but also a place where you can get a glimpse into the lives and culture of the Chinese at the time, so it was more meaningful.

The most beautiful association in Hoi An
Fujian (Phuc Kien) Assembly Hall was built around 1690 and functions as a traditional assembly hall for the Chinese ethnic group from Fujian, China to socialise, but later was transformed into a temple dedicated to their deity named Thien Hau – the goddess of sea who protects sailors from danger. As told by the preceding generations, the Chinese in Hoi An decided to build that temple to worship the statue of the goddess which was found on Hoi An Beach in 1697. Probably the most prominent amongst 5 Assembly Halls in the town, today Fujian Assembly Hall is located in 46 Tran Phu St.
