Many people miss out the awaji island when travel to Kobe. And most of the tourists station at Osaka and take train to Kobe for a day trip without realise there is a beautiful island near Kobe that worth to spend a day or two. Honestly i strongly recommend to rent a car to drive here. And if possible stay a night to fully enjoy the island. I drove to awaji island around 9am+ from Kobe city. Half a day gone and i am still at the awaji park because it is very big. If you travel with children, can first go to Akashi Kaikyo National Government Park with children playground. Then move to Hyogo Prefecture Awaji Hanasajiki to see beautiful flowers and views. Then head to Higashiuraguchi to enjoy the rest of the park with children playground and park. By the time you finish, probably already very late and sunset. I skipped the Higashiuraguchi park and traveled 54km to end of awaji island to see the onion hill. It is beautiful place with many local people over the weekend. But if you have limited time, i strongly recommend you to skip and go to other part of awaji island with beautiful see views and food. And finally end your day at naruto park. To truly experience Awaji Island, you may consider stay a night here. I will be back in the future.
