ARABICA COFFEE SHOP
Azabudai Hills, Tokyo, December 2024 -
After an evening out @teamlab’s immersive digital art experience, @teamLab_borderless, I discovered an equally spectacular %Arabica coffee shop in @azabudaihillsofficial. Having visited their locations outside Japan, I was familiar with their minimalist design and exceptional brews. However, this particular branch surpassed expectations with its pristine, space-age aesthetic and mirrored ceiling, exuding a futuristic elegance that sets it apart from their typical coffee shops.
Although it was late and I was seeking a hot chocolate (which sadly they don’t serve) I couldn’t resist photographing this remarkable space. The store offers a good selection of their % signature beans and features an on-site roaster, and all within the most immaculate setting. Even sans caffeine the visual experience alone makes @arabica.kyoto in Azabudai Hills a destination well worth the visit.

The beauty that is difficult to capture with a camera.
It's hard for me to capture the beautiful scenery I see with just my phone.
When I first entered the exhibition, I saw the sea of flowers projected on the walls and floor, and the fragrance of flowers in the air, and didn't think there was anything special about this exhibition.
But the various small rooms are the real highlights.
Rooms where countless strings of LED lights hang from the ceiling, forming scenes like rain, starry rivers, and space travel as the lights change rhythmically.
Rooms with orange-yellow bulbs hanging at different heights, creating a sense of depth.
A room of flower seas that you reach after passing through darkness.
The projections in the corridors also change slowly over time, so you might see different scenes when you return to the same spot after a while.
It's a great place for taking photos, but also a place that tests your photography skills.
My friend and I spent about an hour here, and it felt like spending another hour wouldn't be a problem.
We decided to go on a whim that day and were lucky to get tickets for around 4 PM in the afternoon.
During peak tourist seasons, you might need to buy tickets even earlier.

TeamLab Borderless

TeamLab Borderless Tokyo is an incredible digital art museum where lights, colors, and technology come together to create a magical experience. Every room feels like stepping into a different world, with glowing lamps, mirrored walls, and interactive displays that react to your movements.
One of the most beautiful spots is the Forest of Resonating Lamps, where colorful lights change as you move around. The Crystal World is another highlight, with sparkling lights surrounding you from every angle.
I also loved the Floating Nest, where you can lie down and watch stunning visuals play out above you. For those who like something more active, the Athletics Forest combines art with fun physical activities.
The museum feels like a never-ending adventure, with each corner revealing something new. However, it can get quite crowded, so visiting on a weekday is a good idea.
Overall, TeamLab Borderless isn’t just a place to see art — it’s a place to experience it. Absolutely worth a visit if you're in Tokyo!

Teamlab Borderless experience
The museum is pretty cool, there are many things to see smell and experience. The viral rooms do look amazingly stunning and would recommend to include this in your itinerary. For us unfortunately, the light sculpture was under maintenance and we couldn’t see it. But the different rooms with different smells were pretty dope. Time flies by exploring the illuminated world. You can spend here 1-2h.

Poetry of Light and Shadow: Exploring teamLab Borderless at Azabudai Hills
Stepping into teamLab Borderless at Azabudai Hills feels like entering a dream beyond reality. The flowing lights at the entrance resemble a river of stars, guiding me into an infinite artistic space. Each exhibition hall is a sensory feast: tens of thousands of digital light points converge into a sea of flowers, changing with my steps. Flowers bloom and wither, whispering the cycle of nature.
The 'Borderless Tea Room' captivated me for a long time. As tea is poured into the cup, a tiny universe emerges, with petals gently falling and dissipating. Time seems to stand still at this moment. I deeply felt the perfect fusion of humanity and nature, technology and art, a wordless emotion like a soft whisper to the soul.
As I left the exhibition hall, night had fallen, and the streets of Azabudai shone brightly under the lights. The teamLab experience was like a borderless journey, not only making me re-examine the art of light and shadow but also awakening deep reflections and insights into my inner world.

Visit to teamLab at Azabudai Hills
I visited teamLab at Azabudai Hills.
The space where digital art merges was magical and immersive.
The interactive exhibits, especially those that synchronize light and sound, were particularly impressive, drawing me into the art pieces that changed with movement.
The space itself is a piece of art, offering a different experience each time you visit.
It's a great place to enjoy with friends and family, and also recommended as a spot to refresh yourself alone.

So artistic and relaxing
“teamLab Borderless is a world of artworks without boundaries, a museum without a map created by art collective teamLab.”
This is absolutely what I really recommend going while staying in Japan. You need to walk a lot if you want to see everything, but there is a tea house inside of the amusement building so you can chill over there with a tea and a flower blooms inside the teacup. Flowers bloom infinitely as long as there is tea which is pretty cool!

Shine Bright like a Diamond in the Tokyo Megalopolis
Priced from 4000yen (depending on the day), it is well worth the pennies.
The light artworks are constantly moving/floating, and many of them even interactive, i.e reacting to your movement on the wall. And there are dozens of open spaces with different themes of subject/color/shape; and a handful of hidden chambers where one can “hunt” for—one must not miss the room with bending light shows, totally breathtaking.
For fullest experience, one should reserve at least two hours for this place.

The Best Interactive Art and Light Museum
Hi travellers 👋🏻✈️ Yana here 🥰
I have to say that teamLab makes THE BEST museums! They're all so beautiful and aesthetic! It's totally my kind of art museum.
The place is huge so don't worry about having a good time. Highly recommended to go early though.
PRO TIPS: the museum limits the amount of people in a certain time and day so it's best to buy the tickets early (via Trip.com that is). It's super popular!

Azabudai Hills
#thingstodo Azabudai Hills has a nice exterior and lots of greenery, so I wanted to take some photos, so I went early in the morning. It was around 9am, and although there were some people doing construction work on shops that hadn't opened yet and people filming on location, there weren't many regular customers, so it was easy to take photos.
I thought the central plaza would be more spacious, but it felt smaller than I had imagined.
This time I went before the store opened, so next time I would like to go to Azabudai Hills after it opens and enjoy some food.
