Walking down from People's Park, I had planned to go to Baixiang Street, but I saw a distinctive building on the side of the road, which felt like some old site. A search online revealed it to be the Southwest Industrial Building, the former site of the China Democratic National Construction Association. There are quite a few people heading there, and most of the visitors who come to look around are from out of town, but overall there are very few people. There are two floors in total, mainly featuring photos and physical objects. The exhibition hall of the museum covers an area of 320 square meters, and right at the entrance, you can see the image wall of the five main initiators of the Democratic National Construction Association: Huang Yanpei, Hu Juewen, Zhang Naiqi, Shi Fuliang, and Sun Qimeng. These five individuals are industrialists who have made outstanding contributions to the nation. During the war of resistance, the national industry was relocated inland, and business people in Chongqing established the Southwest Industrial Building as a permanent venue to continue the 'Star Five Dinner Meetings' from Shanghai. On December 16, 1945, the founding meeting of the China Democratic National Construction Association was held in the Southwest Industrial Building in Chongqing, which thus became the birthplace of the association. The exhibition revolves around three questions: 'Why was the Democratic National Construction Association established in Chongqing,' 'How was it established in Chongqing,' and 'What did it do after its establishment in Chongqing.' It is divided into three parts: 'Saving the Nation,' 'Birth of the Association,' and 'Like-mindedness,' and it realistically reflects the significant events and personal stories from the establishment of the association in Chongqing on December 16, 1945, until the founding of New China on October 1, 1949.
