Historic buildings

The Bell and Drum Tower is located at the northern end of the north-south central axis of Beijing. As the time-reporting center of the capitals of the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, it is one of the landmark buildings in the ancient capital of Beijing and has a long history. The Bell and Drum Tower consists of two buildings, the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower. The ancient Chinese Bell and Drum Tower originated in the Han Dynasty. According to historical records, in the Han Dynasty, there was a system of morning drums and evening bells that "beat drums in the morning to rouse people, and ringing bells at night to rouse people's breath". The Bell and Drum Tower in Beijing was built in the Yuan Dynasty. In the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, as the time-reporting center at that time, the Drum Tower was equipped with a drum, the bell tower hung a bell, and the "morning bell and evening drum" followed the rhythm. Until now, there are still drumming performances to watch here every day. There are 3-4 performances each about an hour in the morning and afternoon. The drums are deafening and majestic. At night, the lights of the bell and drum towers are lit up in the night, which is more antique and beautiful.
