Historic buildings
Tongjiao Temple is located in Dongzhimen, Dongcheng District, Beijing. The rebuilt Tongjiao Temple has 3 mountain gates, the Daxiong Hall at the west end of the temple, and a total of 40 rooms on two floors on the north and south floors. There are 3 Qingtailiao rooms behind the north building. In the north and south side halls, there are Jialan Hall, Wuguan Hall, Buddhist Temple, and Zushi Hall. Opposite the gate of Tongjiao Temple is a park full of pines and cypresses, exotic flowers and plants, making the temple environment more serene. After entering the mountain gate, it is the newly renovated Daxiong Hall. Amitabha Buddha is enshrined on the lotus seat in the hall of the Mahavira Hall. The Dharma is solemn and the sculptures are exquisite. On both sides of the hall are neatly arranged monks' rooms, the Wuguan Hall on the left and the Buddhist Temple on the right. There are also two stone tablets erected in the temple when it was rebuilt in 1942. The main existing Buddhist buildings in Tongjiao Temple include Daxiong Hall, Nianfo Hall, Wuguan Hall, Niche, etc. Among them, the more unique building is Daxiong Hall, which is famous for the "Portrait of Fifty-Three Mentors of Good Fortune Boys" in the hall. There are also two inscriptions in the temple, a collection of Japanese "Taishozo".
