Bellevue Beach, also known as Miramare is located in Miramare Bay (uvala Miramare) is just on 20 minutes walk from the Old Town on the very beginning of Lapad peninsula. It is a secluded pebble beach that one can get to via steps that lead along the side of Hotel Rixos Libertas. The beach is nestled in a deep, picturesque bay surrounded by steep cliffs and large cave (see above photo). There is a cafe bar/restaurant in the near vicinity handy for drinks and snacks. Dubrovnik is surrounded by the sea on three sides, and its clear blue beaches are a great place for locals to cool off. On our second day in Dubrovnik, the temperature remained high and the sunshine never faded. After climbing Mount Sord in the morning, I decided to have some fun in the afternoon and enjoy the Croatian sunshine and Mediterranean style. I randomly found a beach on Google Map. It’s about ten minutes away from the hostel and a long way from the ancient city. It’s called the Secret Beach on the Internet. Bellevue Beach is located next to Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik and is a pebble beach within the bay. As luck would have it, I took the wrong road at a fork in the road and ended up at the bay within the hotel. Non-guests can rent beach chairs and towels from the hotel, but it costs 100 HRK (about HKD 115). Of course, a budget backpacker like me would not rent them. In fact, there are large rocks stacked next to the bay, so you can find a spot to bask in the sun or jump into the Adriatic Sea for a swim. With one person and a large towel, you can lie down all day long, and the cool sea water brings a little comfort in this hot summer.
