Labuan 4 Stars Staycation
Getting There - It is 1.6 KM and took about 7-10 minutes of driving from Labuan ferry terminal. For walking it is approximately 800 meters and takes about 10-15 minutes.
Attractions - Many bars and pubs nearby the hotel. The last picture shows the view of a famous old and abandoned Labuan Hotel that can be seen from the Lazenda hotel room.
Hotels - Comfortable and satisfying.
Food & Restaurants - The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor. The meal was served buffet style.
Shopping - There are no shopping malls nearby but many small shops sell duty free chocolates and liquor/beer/wine.
Overall I would say that this hotel is one of the best hotels to stay in Labuan. The customer service is very helpful. Just one comment on the food preparation is quite slow.

A Moment To Remember
So far this is one of the best hotels in Labuan. The customer service is polite. The spacious room makes guests comfortable and the airy bathroom with window you can see from outside but has a curtain that you can close depending on your privacy. There's a mini fridge with some beverages and you can keep your favorite drinks inside to keep it cold.
The restaurant is located on the top floor which is called Sky Bar. There you can have your meal with a stunning view of Labuan town. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the waiter/waitress is friendly. There are many types of dishes you can choose.
Overall Hotel Labuan Point is one of the hotels that you need to stay in when visiting Labuan.

The Kraken Bar & Grill - Victoria, Labuan
#bucketlistreboot
Stumbled across this bar while walking down the main strip and heard the music.
Great spot for a couple of drinks whether alone or in a group. Service was great, they noticed when I was finishing a drink and promptly asked if I’d like another.
Busy but not packed and the live music was a nice surprise. Very chilled and against a great backdrop of the harbour.
They do serve asian and western food. Happy hour for beer is until 9pm. Happy hour price RM 45 for a bucket of Guinness consist of 6 big bottles!
It’s too bad they are now no more in business. Would love to be there again if there’s any opportunity. The pics were taken in 2018 my last time in Labuan.

Labuan Clock Tower: A Quirky Slice of Island Time ⏰🌴
#kotakinabalutrip
You know those places that feel *straight out of a postcard*? Labuan’s iconic **Clock Tower** is exactly that—a charming, candy-striped timekeeper standing proudly at the heart of the island’s chaotic roundabout. And trust me, it’s way more fun than it sounds!
### **The Unexpected Moment**
I was trying to take a *perfect* clock selfie when a local uncle on a motorbike yelled, *“Hey! The tower leans a bit—just like Pisa lah!”* Turns out, it *does* tilt slightly (thanks, soft soil!). Now I joke I’ve visited “**Malaysia’s Mini Pisa**” 😂
### **Sensory Snapshots**
- **Sight:** Bright red-and-white stripes against Labuan’s always-blue sky.
- **Sound:** Honking cars swirling around the roundabout (it’s *the* landmark for directions!).
- **Vibe:** Old-school charm meets “wait, is that clock *actually* working?” (Spoiler: Sometimes!)
### **Hidden Gem**
Across the road, grab a **butter-grilled bun + iced Milo** from the rusty pushcart vendor—uncle’s been there since the 90s. Sweet, crispy, and *pure nostalgia*. 🍞❄️
### **Why It’s Special**
Built in 1957 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, this tower’s seen Labuan evolve from colonial port to tax-free haven. It’s like the island’s favorite grandfather clock!
### **Quick Itinerary**
⏰ **9:00 AM:** Snap crowd-free photos (morning light = golden!).
⏰ **9:30 AM:** Breakfast at the pushcart (try the *kaya* toast too!).
⏰ **10:00 AM:** Walk 5 mins to **Labuan Square** for more retro vibes.
**Final Tip?** Visit at night when it’s lit up—suddenly the roundabout feels like a disco! 🕺💡
**#ClockSpotting #LabuanLandmark** Who knew timekeeping could be this cute? 😍
Labuan War Cemetery: Where History Whispers Among the Flowers 🌺✝️
#kotakinabalutrip
You wouldn’t expect a war memorial to be beautiful—but **Labuan War Cemetery** stops you in your tracks. Rows of **pristine white headstones** stand like silent soldiers under the shade of rain trees, each telling a story of sacrifice in Borneo’s WWII history. Here’s why this peaceful spot deserves a visit.
### **First Impressions: “It’s Too Quiet…”**
- **The grounds:** Impeccably manicured lawns with **1,848 graves** (mostly Allied POWs)
- **The air:** Heavy with the scent of frangipani and cut grass
- **The vibe:** So still, you’ll find yourself whispering
### **The Chilling Discovery: The Unknowns**
Look closely and you’ll see:
🪦 **Headstones without names**—just *“A Soldier of the War”*
🇦🇺 **Australian, British, Indian** markers with heartbreaking ages (*19, 22, 27…*)
✝️ **Crosses & Stars of David** side by side
### **Hidden Story: The Sandakan Death Marches**
Many buried here were victims of:
🚂 **Forced 260km jungle marches** (only 6 survived)
💀 **Brutal POW camps** where 2,400 perished
### **Unexpected Moment: The Curious Hornbills**
During golden hour, **wild hornbills** perch in the trees above—their loud *whooshing* wings feel like nature’s salute.
### **Visitor Tips:**
🕘 **Best Time:** Early morning or 4-6pm (soft light for photos)
📜 **Read the memorial plaque**—it’ll gut you
🌧️ **Avoid rainy afternoons** (the clay soil gets slippery)
### **Nearby Detour:**
Pay respects at the **Surrender Point** memorial (where Japan formally surrendered Borneo) just 10 mins away.
**Verdict:** 10/10 for historical significance. Leaves you quiet and grateful.
*“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old…”*
**Who’s visited? Share your thoughts below.** 👇
*(P.S. No loud voices—this isn’t that kind of place.)*

2 Days in Victoria
2 Days in Victoria, Labuan: A Hidden Gem Worth Exploring!
Labuan, the Pearl of Borneo, is a perfect mix of history, nature, and duty-free shopping! Here’s a recap of my two-day adventure in Victoria, Labuan, plus some travel tips to help you make the most of your trip.
Day 1: History & Culture
🛕 Labuan War Cemetery – A peaceful and well-maintained site, honoring fallen soldiers from World War II. A must-visit for history buffs.
🏛 Labuan Museum – A small yet insightful museum showcasing Labuan’s rich heritage and culture.
🚢 The Chimney Museum – A mysterious red-brick tower with no clear purpose, but an interesting stop for history lovers.
🌅 Labuan Square & Sunset View – Enjoy a relaxing walk and snap some photos at Labuan’s city center before catching the sunset at Layang-Layangan Beach.
Day 2: Nature & Shopping
🏝 Rusukan Besar Island – Took a short boat ride for some snorkeling and beach relaxation. The water is crystal clear!
🛍 Duty-Free Shopping – Labuan is famous for its duty-free chocolates, perfumes, and alcohol. Best place to shop: Financial Park Complex.
🍽 Seafood Feast at Anjung Ketam – Ended the trip with fresh, affordable seafood while enjoying a sea view. Highly recommend the butter prawns!
Travel Tips:
✅ Rent a car – Public transport is limited, and renting a car makes it easier to explore.
✅ Bring cash – Some small eateries and island tour operators prefer cash over cards.
✅ Try local delicacies – Don’t leave without tasting Labuan’s ambuyat and seafood specialties!
Labuan might be small, but it has plenty to offer for a short and sweet getaway. Can’t wait to visit again!
