Highlights of Bishamon-do Temple Main Hall (Hondo) The main hall of this temple has a traditional architecture and is located on a hill. When you get there, you can see a clear view of Yamashina. Importantly, during the fall season, the path leading to the temple is paved with red and orange maple leaves, making it feel like walking in a tunnel of fallen leaves. On November 16th, we started our second day of slow living in Japan. We saw information about autumn leaves in the lobby of the Kyoto hotel. Two of the top 10 spots were very close and we hadn't been to them before, which were the Bishamon-do Temple and the Daigo-ji Temple. So we set off immediately. From Kyoto Station, take the JR to Yamashina Station, which only takes 5 minutes with GPS. There are few signs along the way, but after a 20-minute walk, you will arrive at Bishamon-do. This is not a popular attraction like Kiyomizu-dera, so there are few people and you can take your time to take photos, which is great. We stayed for 2 hours before leaving. From JR Yamashina Station, take the railway for 10 minutes to reach the Tofukuji Station, and then walk for 15 minutes to get to Tofukuji Temple. The signs along the way are clear, so you won't get lost. Daigoji Temple is a world cultural heritage site and a national treasure temple in Japan. Cherry blossoms can be seen in April, especially during the cherry blossom festival held on the second Sunday of April every year, which travelers with time should not miss.
