Bogor Botanigal Gardens, West Java, Indonesia
At first this garden would only be used as an experimental garden for plantation crops to be introduced to the Dutch East Indies. However, in its development, the establishment of the Bogor Botanical Gardens can be said to have started the development of science in Indonesia and as a forum for scientists, especially in the field of botany in Indonesia, in an organized manner at that time (1880 - 1905). #bogor #bogorbotanicalgardens #kebunrayabogor #indonesia #indonesiaforrest #indonesiagardens #indonesiatourism #indonesiatravel

The oldest
The oldest Botanical Garden in Indonesia from around 1815. Still beautiful but really need some basic improvement : garden map covering point of interests, routes etc, clean toilets, dust bins, clear signs, tour guides, etc.
The traffic to main entrance could be so bad during Sunday and holiday. So please be aware on your schedule.
Still found many visitors smoking inside the garden, ruined the experience.
Some of the board containing information of the point of interest already worn out and we cannot read it.
Located in centre of bogor, botanical garden easy to find in regular traffic condition. 84 Ha area of botaninical garden have a various theme park. Good place for refreshing and enjoying with kid.

Bogor bota
Bogor botanical garden is the first botanical garden in Indonesia. It lies in the heart of Bogor.
There are 2 orchid houses near the café. The newer one is full with commercial orchids such as phalaenopsis, dendrobium, and cattleya. The older one contains the ingenious orchids from rainforests all over Indonesia. Most of these orchids are smaller and they don’t bloom as often as the commercial ones, but they smell very nice.
Another unique spot to see is the lotus ponds. They are hardly to miss because there are a few ponds scattered in this garden. The lotus has round giant leaves floating on the water.

New Year's Day at the Botanical gardens
Bogor Botanical Gardens is a really attractive destination to explore in Java. It offers a wide array of flora and fauna from all around the world. The spacious compound is definitely a plus, with thematic sections devoted to certain geographical locations, and plant species. In addition, there are historical buildings and monuments such as the Dutch Cemetery, the Bogor Presidential Palace, and the Olivia Raffles monument. A noteworthy highlight is the pine trees section near the main entrance, ideal for early birds catching the morning sunshine.

A giant and old garden dwells in the middle of Bogor City. The distance is approximately 60 km from the south of Jakarta or only an hour's drive from the concrete jungle of the capital city. The exact location is on Jalan Ir. H. Juanda No. 13 Bogor, West Java. Bogor Botanical Gardens are indeed special for Bogor, which used to be known as “Buitenzorg” or “Maintenance Free”. A city with high rainfall throughout the year and a cooler climate than Jakarta of course. Bogor Botanical Gardens is located on an area of 87 hectares offering you the presence of 400 types of palm trees, 5,000 trees from all tropical countries, and an orchid house with 3,000 varieties. Imagine that with a number like that, making the Bogor Botanical Gardens a port for 3,504 plant species in 1,273 genera and 199 species. This botanical garden was initiated by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles in 1811-1816. Raffles while serving as Governor General of the Dutch East Indies brought plants from the Gardens Kew Botanical Gardens in England and then planted them in this garden. Raffles at first only made a small garden to remind his wife.
