There are not many attractions to visit in Tirana, the capital of Albania. Half a day is enough. You can save this landmark route! 🏞Route: Skanderbeg Square ~ Bunk'Art 2 ~ Reja Cloud ~ Great Mosque of Tirana ~ Tanner's Bridge 1⃣Skanderbeg Square (Sheshi “Skënderbeu”) In the center of Tirana, Skanderbeg Square features a statue of the national hero Skanderbeg. Children play around the fountain, and in the middle of the square is the National History Museum. Most of the city's attractions are nearby, and there are several good restaurants across the square. 📜Tickets: No tickets required. 🕰Opening hours: The square is open all day. 🏞Address: Sheshi Skënderbej, Tiranë, Albania 🚖Transportation: Located in the city center, within walking distance. 2⃣Bunk'Art 2 Bunk'Art 2 is a landmark in Tirana, now converted into a museum. The entrance is filled with photos of those who died during the war, and inside, there are many historical materials and spy stories on display. 🕰Opening hours: 9:30 - 17:00 🏞Address: Rruga Fadil Deliu Tiranë, Albania 📜Tickets: 7 euros, it is recommended to buy tickets online in advance. 🚖Transportation: About 100 meters behind Skanderbeg Square. 3⃣Great Mosque of Tirana The Great Mosque of Tirana is an Ottoman-style building located near Tanner's Bridge. You can visit it along the way without making a special trip. Free to visit, but please be respectful. Proper attire is required to enter the mosque, and women need to wear headscarves. 🏞Address: Xhamia e Et'hem Beut, Tiranë 1001, Albania 🚖Transportation: About 200 meters behind Bunk'Art 2. 4⃣Tanner's Bridge This stone bridge is the oldest building in the city, dating back to the Ottoman period. It is a witness to the history of Tirana. Walking on the bridge, you can take photos with a historical feel. 🏞Address: Bulevardi Jean D'Arc, Tiranë, Albania 🚖Transportation: About 600 meters from the Great Mosque, a 10-minute walk. 5⃣Reja Cloud (Reja “the cloud”) This modern art installation looks like a floating cloud, especially when lit up at night. It is a perfect spot for taking photos. It is recommended to visit in the evening for the best photo effects. 🏞Address: Bulevardi Deshmoret e Kombit, Tirana 1001 🚖Transportation: About an 11-minute walk from Tanner's Bridge.

This attraction is not only a reminder of the country and city's dark past but also almost a commemoration of it. Throughout the communist era, there were bunks throughout the Albania. This one was smack in the middle of the city but was never used for its intended purpose. It stands today as a testament for that past, with informative displays, recreations and explanations of that time period. The attraction accepts cash only and you'll walk through the detailed explanations of the paranoia of the era. I find that at the end of it, you'll have a better understanding of how life was during that time and the tension that existed amongst compatriotes. If you have time to explore beyond Tirana, consider visiting Vlora (Avlonya) or Ksamil for stunning beaches and coastal scenery.

Riverside Walk After Lunch Take a relaxing stroll along the riverside to enjoy the scenery and unwind. 4. Pyramid of Tirana This peculiar concrete structure was built to honor the dictator Enver Hoxha. Though it appears rugged, it serves as a great spot for panoramic views. 5. Toptani Shopping Mall Ideal for taking a break when the weather is bad or it's too hot outside. Conveniently located near Bunk'Art 2 and its entrance.

📍Bunk'Art1 Rruga Fadil Deliu, Tiranë 1001 Albania There are two famous museums in the city called BunkArt, which are used to learn about the history of Albania. The second one is located in the city center and is a museum in an actual bunker. The first one is a little far away, but can be easily accessed by the very frequent city bus to Porcelan. The entrance fee for both is 700 lek (as of February 2024). Albania is a country that has struggled to gain independence, having been dominated by Italy and Germany, being tormented by powerful countries, and being closed off to the outside world. Although they are not often seen in the capital Tirana, "bunkers" (pillowcases in Russian) with semicircular mushroom-shaped heads still remain in various parts of the country. The initial plan was for 221,143 bunkers, but the final figure was 173,371, which still works out to one for every 11 residents. Many of the structures are nuclear-proof, so they are still indestructible. Bunk'Art1 is a museum that uses underground tunnels for military purposes that were installed when the government visited North Korea. It has 106 rooms and can even hold special parliamentary sessions. Most of Tirana's attractions are concentrated near Skanderbeg Square in the city center, and one day is enough to visit. 🚗Skanderbeg Square Skanderbeg Square, located in the center of Tirana, is the largest square in Albania. The Skanderbeg Equestrian Statue is a check-in spot for many tourists. 🚗National Museum of History The National Historical Museum, located north of Skanderbeg Square, displays cultural relics from the country's various eras from the Roman era to the Hoxha period. The entrance fee is 500 lek. 🚗Bunker Museum There are two bunker museums in Tirana, this one in the suburbs and the other in the city center. Many of the exhibits in the museum have a sense of age, especially many of the items that were aided by China back then and have Chinese characters written on them. 🚗Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ This is a Byzantine-style Christian church. The interior of the church is very beautiful and can be visited for free. 🚗Dajti Peak A bit like Nanshan in Urumqi, you need to take a cable car. The scenery when climbing is not bad, and there are many abandoned bunkers on the mountain.
