The Capital Theater is a professional theater affiliated to the Beijing People's Art Theater. It is also the first professional theater built after the founding of the People's Republic of China to mainly perform dramas. In the 1950s and 1960s, the theater was famous for performing plays by Lao She, Cao Yu and Tian Han. Its representative plays include "Camel Xiangzi", "Tea House", "Thunderstorm" and "Sunrise" As well as foreign plays "The Miserly Man", "Aesop", "The Man with a Gun", "The Wise Who Cares, There Will Be a Loss" and so on. The famous drama master Jiao Juyin once served as the chief director of the theater, and cultivated a large number of performing artists represented by him. Since the 1980s, a large number of outstanding young actors have come to the fore.
