📍Cebu, Philippines "Church of the Santo Niño" "Magellan's Cross" On Christmas Eve, I visited two famous tourist spots in the center of Cebu city🎄 The Philippines is a Christian country, so it was crowded with many families on Christmas Eve. It's like going to a shrine on New Year's Day in Japan, and in the Philippines, families visit churches on Christmas⛪️ The church was sparkling with lights and candles for Christmas🕯️ The Magellan's Cross, right next to the church, was also beautifully illuminated🌟

This time, I will introduce 5 things to do in Cebu, Philippines🇵🇭🙌 Cebu is famous for its beaches, but there are many other things to enjoy besides the beach! 1. Cheers on the beachside🍻 The Philippines has a strong image of fast food, but Cebu, which is a popular tourist destination, has many nice restaurants! The prices are also more affordable than in Japan, so I'm happy🙌 2. Eat local food Jollibee! When it comes to fast food in the Philippines, it's Jollibee! This red character is the landmark of this fast food restaurant, not only in Cebu but all over the Philippines. 3. Take photos at an Instagram-worthy spot Silao Garden, an Instagram spot in Cebu! It's located in the mountains of Cebu, so I recommend renting a taxi to get there! (It's hard to find a taxi on the way back) There are many photo spots that you often see on Instagram. And since it's a garden, the flowers are beautiful🌷 The entrance fee is cheap at 60 pesos (about 120 yen)! 4. Watch the sunset at TOPS Observatory 🌇 To the highest spot in Cebu, TOPS Observatory! You can take a taxi with Grab, but it's hard to catch a taxi on the way back, so it's a good idea to negotiate with the driver and have him wait for you 🙆🏻♀️ 5. Shopping at the supermarket When I go abroad, I always go to the supermarket! I often look up seasonings and dried noodles that locals like and buy them. The prices are also reasonable, so they're good for souvenirs 👌 6. Tops Lookout, located on top of a mountain about 30 to 40 minutes by taxi or motorbike from Cebu City, is a spectacular observation spot that offers a panoramic view of Cebu City and Mactan Island. I visited it as part of a city sightseeing tour with CSP Travel, and it was easy and convenient to access. I especially recommend visiting in the evening. When the sun sets, the sky turns pink, and the beauty is breathtaking. At the observation deck, local Cebuanos were singing various songs, and the music and the scenery were integrated into a very nice space. There is also a shop where you can buy snacks and drinks, and you can relax while being blown by the night breeze. It can get a little chilly at night, so it's a good idea to bring a jacket. It's a night view spot that you can't miss in Cebu, whether you're with a couple, friends, or even alone! #Let's go abroad

After that, we took the free shuttle bus to check in at Toyoko Inn Cebu🚌 After a nap at the hotel, we gathered at 2am to join the CSP Travel tour! ⸻ Day 2: 02:00 Meet at Toyoko Inn → Take a shared bus to the whale shark spot🎶 (there was a loud party inside the bus😂) 06:00 Arrive at Oslob → Get a numbered ticket → Have breakfast at a nearby restaurant🥣 ✨ Dreamy snorkeling with whale sharks (about 30 minutes) Share photos with everyone on a GoPro📸 An unforgettable seawater experience (lol) ➡️ After that, ride the zip line and then go canyoning! It has a long history, having been burned down on November 1, 1568, rebuilt in 1602, destroyed again in 1628, and rebuilt and restored in 1740. The church's patron saint, the Santo Niño (a statue of the infant Jesus Christ), was a gift from Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan to Queen Juana. My days in Cebu were a perfect blend of 'rest' and 'experience.' From hopping tours across the blue sea to exploring remnants of the Spanish colonial era within the city, Cebu revealed itself as a city with many faces. First, the hopping tour. The transparent waters, the gentle breeze, and snorkeling amidst vibrant fish in the calm sea—those moments allowed me to let go of all worldly worries and immerse myself in the underwater world. The seafood meal on the boat exceeded expectations, with the fresh taste of the ocean filling my palate. In the city, I leisurely explored the Santo Niño Basilica, Fort San Pedro, and Magellan's Cross. Though not extravagant, the old walls and intricate carvings conveyed Cebu's long history, making the walk a meaningful experience. Standing before Magellan's Cross, I felt that this place was more than just a tourist spot—it was a site where one could connect with Cebu's roots. At the hotel, I enjoyed a relaxing time. The refreshing pool, warm sunlight, and the luxury of doing absolutely nothing were rejuvenating. I also indulged in local cuisine, from mango-infused desserts to crispy lechon, all of which were delightful. Cebu is a well-balanced travel destination where you can experience activity and relaxation, nature and history. Next time, I hope to stay longer and spend an entire day playing by the sea.

Went to cebu featuring moalboal, oslob, sumilon island and cebu city with their own public transportation and minimal bookings! it was a girls trip with just two of us, and it definitely felt safe traveling around. Though we did invest a bit more on accommodations this time, staying in all hotels. But our average accommodation costs were about $30 per night per head with exception for the 5-star bluewater resort - for a standalone premium suite (fits up to 4 pax), it was SGD $250 for 2 nights WITH breakfast and dinner provided! Used trip.com to book it and definitely was a steal, as we felt like we were in a love island show with stunning views and various activities to enjoy for free within the resort. Cebu city - moalboal and Oslob - moalboal is easy to commute with their public bus (Ceres les AC busses recommended for tourists for speed and comfort) with about 150 - 200 pesos per pax (< SGD $5) and takes about 4 hours for moalboal and 5 hours for oslob. Tricky commute was moalboal to oslob as you need to transfer busses. On google maps, you can find “Jolibee moalboal” or “Bus Journey to Oslob via Bato” for detailed reviews by other visitors! :) Main mode of commutes in the countryside are local tricycle scooters, often referred to as tuk tuk. In cebu city, grab is available. Each trip costs about less than 350 pesos ( ~ SGD $9) and depends on the distance. Roaming Data plans for 4G or even 5G is useless in moalboal and oslob as you can’t even get signal 60% of the time and maximum speed is LTE. However, all resorts are equipped with high speed internets surprisingly. In cebu city, 5G is available. So, cebu is definitely a great place for digital detox. Filipino cuisine is usually bursting with flavours but one place i would definitely recommend is “Smoke Stack” where they sell charcoal grilled bbq meats including lechon, their lechon baka is unlike any other, and definitely a hidden gem! They aren’t a fancy restaurant but they really focused all into the quality of the food. their pork ribs were amazing too. Its easy to commute if you put your grab destination as the shopping complex next to it “citadine cebu city”. Pillows Hotel is located in Cebu City near Cebu Port and other city attractions. Our room is big. It has a safety box for your valuables, the aircon is window type and it's old. A simple wardrobe and hygiene kit is not provided but you can purchase with them. Breakfast is good. You can avail it until 10pm if you're busy with your itinerary during the day. You can buy some food sandwiches, pasta or seafood and drinks. They have a menu for you. The staff are friendly. They provide a water dispenser along the hallway.
