Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden | Every encounter with cherry blossoms is unique
The cherry blossom garden at Chenshan Botanical Garden is really crowded, and of course, the cherry blossoms are impressively abundant~
I thought that the cherry blossoms would only be mature by the end of March, but it turns out there are different varieties~
.
The best time to view cherry blossoms in Chenshan Botanical Garden is from April to June, where you can enjoy the flowers + camping + visit the greenhouse (it won't be too hot)
However, during this period, only the cherry blossoms and the plants in the greenhouse are available for viewing
The rest of the places can be said to be barren, but there is also a kind of sentiment~
.
【About Parking】
There are 3 parking lots, P1 P2 P3, park at P1 if you want to see cherry blossoms, park at P2 if you want to visit the greenhouse.
.
P1 parking lot is near Gate 1 (the main entrance), 4 yuan/hour, and it is also the destination most people navigate to, which can easily get congested.
.
During the morning peak hours to enter the park, it is advised to move to the right lane on Chenhua Road in advance, because if there are many cars, the queue can start several intersections ahead.
.
If you go on the weekend, it's best to arrive before 10 am, otherwise the parking lot may be full; roadside parking is available, such as on Chenta Road between Gate 1 and Gate 3; there is also parking at the nearby Guangfulin Country Park, but it tends to fill up quickly (rumored to be free).
.
【About Dining】
There are restaurants near all three gates inside the garden.
.
I had a meal near Gate 2's greenhouse, there are 2 restaurants (Chinese and Western cuisine), I ordered wontons, burgers, coffee, the portions were sufficient, but the taste was very average.
.
During peak dining times, ordering and picking up food can take a long time, so it's better to bring your own food; or order takeout, which takes about an hour, and you can enter and exit the gate for food pickup, you need to stamp your hand, and enter where you exited.
【About Flower Viewing】
The flower viewing area is closest to Gate 1, and April to June is the best season for viewing.
.
Plum blossoms in January-February, cherry blossoms in March-April, magnolias, tulips, wisteria in April-May, and irises, hydrangeas in May-June.
If you're viewing cherry blossoms, turn right after entering Gate 1, and you'll see Cherry Blossom Avenue (visible right upon entering), with cherry trees concentrated on both sides of the avenue.
It is recommended to take photos before noon for flower viewing, as it gets very crowded in the afternoon.
.
In March, only one side of the cherry blossoms bloomed, which should be the Kawazu variety, other areas were not blooming yet, but seeds had been sown, if you want to see more flowers, it's better to wait until April-May.
.
【About Camping】
80% of the lawns in the garden are unfenced and directly accessible, very suitable for camping!
.Camping carts are allowed in the park, but bicycles are not.
.
There are very open lawns near Gates 1, 2, and 3, all suitable for camping. Personally, I prefer the lawn near Gate 2, with a wide view, close to the lake, but the downside is that there are few trees, no shade, and it might be quite sunny.
.
【Other Tips】
The garden is very large, and it takes at least 4-6 hours to walk through. We entered the park at 10 am, visited most of the areas, and spent 6 hours.
.
There are electric carts in the garden, running between Gates 1 and 2, 3 yuan/person, very affordable.
.
The mine tunnel is just a simple tunnel, I don't think it has any special features, you can skip it if there's a queue.
.
The garden's scenery is very high-level, beautiful and exquisite, there must be aesthetes involved, remember to bring a good camera and take lots of beautiful photos.
.
There are many restrooms in the garden, well-designed, with warm water for washing hands, and smart toilets.
.
The ticket is 60 yuan, you can scan a QR code on-site to purchase, and for an extra yuan, you can get a little stamp collection booklet~
